i have a welsh d i dont know if to put a flat cavesson bridle does it matter which bridle as long as it a snaffle bridle ? brown or black tack? do you know of any show near north west eg neston show ? should i have a brown numnah for a dark bay pony ?

Hello

I'm not a showing guru but I have shown my Welsh D and think the following

definitely flat noseband, you can prob have a snaffle or pelham (you cna buy special pelhams for showing that look like double bridles). If you normally ride in a snaffle use the snaffle, though. And obviously no coloured browband or anything.

you can use brown or black tack, though I believe that if you're going to couny level then brown is technically more correct. Local level is fine either way, whatever suits your horse best.

No idea re: Northern shows sorry

Yes I think dark brown numnahs are preferred but again, at local level you would also be ok with sheepskin or black.

Hope that helps a bit, good luck!

I show at county and local level with my boy, he is turned out in a flat cavesson noseband, ridden in a brown hunter bridle and a brown working hunter saddle, this shows the shoulder off and helps to balance the look of the horse in front and behind the saddle.
If its only local level showing i dont think it matters as much on tack colour as long as your tack is fitted well.
I would be tempted not to use a numnah if youe saddle fits well without one but if you would prefer to use one then a thin brown one would be better.
Any excuse to show pics of Denny, these were taken last year the ridden pic is of my mother who had not ridden at a show for 10 yrs, she was placed 2nd and loved it.

Good luck with your boy, showing is enjoyable if you dont take it too seriously and find a friendly show.
If you can please post pics I love looking at other welsh cobs.
