Little registered welsh section A approx 11.1/11.2hh rising 3 (in may) has revel, twyford, monnow and edwyns bloodlines, mainly Revel (probably about 70%) steel grey but going lighter, typical large eyes, short head, small ears and dished face.
Is she good enough to show inhand? opinions please!

Heres a pic of her last summer:

Just started doing the ground work with her, bitted her the other week and shes being led out in traffic etc, proving to be very good. Hoping my daughter can ride her next summer

can you provide a confo shot? as the middle one is the closest but is angled down so hard to see.........

Id say face wise yes! but hard to say without seeing overall confo as in hand this is basically hte main thing being judged, along with movement (how does she move?), temperament (althuogh most inhand horses seem to be sky high!!!) and overall appearance (which she has as she is cute!)

Also, do you want inhand local level or in hand county?

I am completely new to in hand showing.........what sort of showing/classes would she be suited to?

She moves lovely, floats infact. When i first got her she had been through a rough time and was very head shy. Shes very good now and will stand quietly, dosent really get hyped up. Although she dosent like sudden movements........

In hand M&M (obv) sometimes these are split into breeds so Sec A, Sec B, etc or by height!

In hand pony classes (if available)

In hand youngster (depending on age limit of the show)

Or if to start off you wanted to do something easy and fun to see how she reacts take her into something like pony the judge would most like to take home! (just walk round and stand for judge to ooo and ahh over) ok its not a serious class and often if for young kids to take their ponys in but it would give you an idea of what she will do.......

However if her movements are that good id go for the proper classes!!! The sudden movements arent really a prob, just practice running up with her, and when she stands she must stand square and pay attention (so not head down and drifting off to sleep!

) also try to work with transitions from walk to trot and then back down again in hand, as this is generally when the horses go BBBBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH and spaz out!

also showing her in hand, she doesnt need to be in a bridle! she can be in a white halter (so this may be prefered for you!) however over a certain age I think they have to be bridled, but someone more experienced in Sec A showing may correct me.

I think she looks a nice general shape and has a pretty head judging from the pics you have shown here. Look on the Welsh Pony and Cob Society website www.wpcs.uk.com and get the details of your local branch, then go along to one of their shows to see what its all about. Welshies especially mares can be shown in a white halter all their lives, or you can move on to an inhand bridle, there is a real mix of the two at shows and as far as I am aware you wouldn't get penalised for one or the other. (Obviously colts need bitting from a certain age) I showed my Sect A in a halter until he was about 15 months old but he became too strong and he was just far better managed in a bridle so that's when I moved onto one.
Not all saddlers have "welshie" showing items such as the white halters, showing whips etc but there are a few welsh specialists who advertise on eBay (there is a Welsh Cob Shop on there which stocks eveything you would need - just a suggestion, I don't think I have used them myself). If you get an in hand bridle it is probably best to get it from a welsh specialist too, as their heads are too small for pony bridles and completely the wrong shape for something like shetland bridles.
Generally at local shows you can enter classes on the day like any other class, but at welsh shows or any that have specialist welsh classes make sure you read the details as all entries for what they call "medal classes" have to be received at least a week in advance, this is because the WPCS insist on a list of entries from the organisers a week before the show.
Hpe this helps?
Have fun with your little girl!

Shes lovely, lovely face. If you can get a confo shot as said head up off the ground, image take from the side at her level standing as sqaure as she will that would help.

One thing I always got marked down for and stopped showing because of , was weight, my little mares were never fat enough! which I hate

I can't see why not, its amazing what you can do with them when they are properly conditioned and have some top line

.

Pop along to a local show first see what the judges make of her, if she was mine I would certaintly give it ago .

I had bought this little dude who also has revel/waxwing lines in him .
