I have a really big show next weekend for Inky but i having dislocated my knee 6 weeks ago i keep partially dislocating it and am awaiting a scan

I did my enteries as i thought i would be ok but there is no way i can run in a show ring, at the risk of dislocating my knee again. A friend ( who i met through shows and another forum ) who is quite well known in the showing circuit has offered if she can to help out with the classes. I can do all the preparation just not the class!! She will be showing a number of horses but has two other people who are on her show team who also show for her. I will be helping her switch horses between classes etc.

My questions are would you take her up on the offer to show him for me??? Im thinking it would be good for me to see how Inky shows and also it would be good for my image!! The only thing is that some people might not like the fact that she is showing for me ( typical show politics cr*p )

I am quite honnoured that she has offered and think in the long run it may be benefical to both me and Inky and im sure i could learn alot from her.

If so how much do i offer to pay them??? She is a producer as such, and im sure when she has shown other peoples horses it was more of a business thing as oppose to a good will gesture but i havent a clue on these kind of things!

If you want him to go to the show (it sounds like you do), I would take her up on her offer. With regards to the money, I always find its better to be up front about these things to avoid any misunderstanding or bad feeling - just say thank you very much for offering to show him for you, and how much does she charge ? If she meant to do it as a favour she will tell you, and if not she will tell you her going rate.
Good luck if you go.

I think you will enjoy seeing someone else show Inky, far better than not going at all and you sulking over a bad knee and Inky not having the chance of doing well.

Get yourself off, enjoy the day, they wouldnt offer to show your Inky if they didnt think Inky was good (if they are hardcore show producers etc) if you get what I mean.

Are you sure they want paying if they have offered to do you this favour...after all they are wanting to help you out.

Definately would buy them a bottle of nice wine or a big bunch of flowers as a thank you though, if they decline you offereing them any money.

Hope Inky does well, remember we want pics!

If it was me, I'd definitely ask whether she was doing it for pleasure or money, and depending on the answer I would take her up on her offer. I can't see what you have to lose if you can sort out any financial details before, so there isn't potentially an unpleasant surprise afterwards.

I would definitely take her up on the offer and just ask how much she charges so that you have that issue resolved from the outset. Your boy is lovely and you will, I feel sure, enjoy watching him from the ringside and feeling proud.

I would jump at the chance. If she's well known on the circuit then it will do both you and Inky the world of good for him to be seen shown by this handler. And wow, what a compliment to have the offer!!

Payment wise, I would ask her how much she 'charges' and go by her reaction. if she tells you outright how much she charges then she's expecting payment, if she brushes you off then a very nice bottle of wine and a bouquet of flowers would go down well.

One thing about her being "well known" on the curcuit is, Ask yourself "Did Inky win cause his good OR, was it because X was riding him?" Remeber a lot of judges are FACEY.

Yes i did think that but the judge is being flown from America so i dont think there is much chance that she will know him!!!

I dont mind paying her at all and wouldnt expect it for free but just didnt know how much i should be expecting to pay!!

Thanks everyone!!
