I have had the very kind offer of a ride at Blair Castle show in 2 weeks. The mare would be entered in the ridden hunter class. Her limbs are clean and she has good conformation, however she has some skin blemishes around her chest and shoulder.
Her owner seems to think that the judges won't mark the mare down for this, but I always thought that any blemish would count against her? Entries have to be sent away tomorrow, so what does everyone think?

I would go for it - I guess it comes down to how unsightly it is. At the end of the day if she has good confirmation and gives a nice ride it shouldn't make a major difference. However it would depend on how fussy the judge is.

Can't you disguise them somehow? There are lots of different "make up" things for showing. So long as the judge doesn't rub their hand over the coat it shouldn't be noticeable.

In the end it is up the to judge. Some wouldn't bother about it, some might mark it down. It depends on how your horse compares to the others as well.
