I am going to my first show next weekend and I'm not sure what to take e.g. do I take whip and I'm taking cob so do I need to plait because he has a short mane and even though he as really long feathers should I still oil is feet????? thanks Oldhorses98

I am new to showing, but do have a cob, I don't oil his feet as it makes his feathers look greasy and I wouldn't plait, but my lads mane is quite long, in hand, you need to carry a show cane, I don't do ridden classes as my lad is still a baby (rising 4) but I don't recall seeing ridden classes using whips, I'm sure more experienced people will tell you more

Any pictures? Is he coloured?

Cobs are not normally shown plaited. You show them either with long mane, tail an feathers or you hog and trim!

Cobs are all or nothing - all hair on with big mane tail and feathers or everything off (ie feathers off mane off and tail banged) it's not correct to plait a cob. I wouldn't oil his feet with feathers but if you take them off you could - if u need a whip use a whip...
