Showjumpers reputation (also in CR)

I had alot of respect for them, being from a not so privaliged background (i don't mean poor, just not rich) and still managing to compete at the top and gain amazing results, then this came out...

Way back in the unaffil days, my girl used to regularly compete against them (still does occasionally) . Then paths altered, they had the money & ponies, we didn't. It's quite upset my girl as she loved to read about them & watch their success. We both feel so sorry for those girls. Yes they've had the success but at what price.

Ugh that's disgraceful! Self centered people like that who think the world owes them a favour even though the rest of the world have to work hard to get to where they want to go ought to be rounded up.......and as for lying about that of all things........

Title on the sun is Showjump girl’s cop mum in cancer ‘con’

I followed them and know them through friends and did think they were a nice honest, genuine, hardworking family, don't know if they children knew, but what a shame for her and all coming out at HOYs aswell

I'm going to be Devil's Advocate here and point out that it does say that she's been released on bail, pending further enquries. It does not say that she has actually been charged with any offence........yet.

How sad for those poor girls! I can understand a paper reporting about the mother's scam - but to actually put photo's of her daughter on her pony in the article is just going a wee bit far for the sake of a juicy story. xx

A very valid point there Fair LOL! Do you know, I'm not certain, but I think there are laws to protect children about photo's/names revealed in the papers.... hmmm, that's got me thinking! xx

I heard of it, but just thought it was jelous parents/children making it up, and hoped it wasn't true or going to be made 'official'

Just means that, practically, it takes a while to get everything together, evidence-wise, in these cases. If it's going to take weeks to get statements/bank statements etc, she has to be released on bail. She'll have an appointment to go back in a few weeks, and more than likely be charged then.

I know both girls have been home schooled for the past year or so, whether they knew it was to do with this or not, I don't know

What a sad situation for all concerned. What a shame that their Mum couldnt have been rpoud for what they were already acheiving.
I spend so much on our two competing at a low level and we never have a penny to spare but couldnt ever imagine being desperate enough to do something like that.
What a b~~~~dy mess.

I'm absolutely sickened by this, I have a daughter who had leukaemia and to lie about something like that to gain money is disgusting. I hope she is never in a position where her daughters are seriously ill, because it would make winning a few showjumping competitions pale into insignificance. I feel sorry for the children who have such a materialistic mother and the other officers who donated.

I could only imagine the pressure she would've felt under once her daughters started doing so well to keep it up but it's no excuse to lie about something so serious.

Shame on the sun for reporting it in such ways and as said, she's not been charged as yet.

I wonder what will happen with regards to her rides on ponies
personally I wouldn't trust her with one of mine now, no matter how talented her daughter is

I am well aware of what it means as I have legal training and work in fraud investigation and OH is a custody sergeant thanks. It could also mean that the charges are dropped with no further action.

And as I said - I was playing Devil's advocate....
