Showjumpers reputation (also in CR)

does anyone know if it was "common knowledge" on the circuit that the older one had cancer or was that a surprise?
 
Well there had been whispers about it for a few weeks, but as fraud not as her actually having cancer..
I don't know if she even knew before that that she was meant to have cancer!
 
How very sad, firstly for the girls and secondly for all the genuine people out there who give up their time for charities ... very, very sad. We all also need to be wary of what we write on here given that an investigation is being carried out...
 
It's disgusting. Sounds like the worst case of pushy mother to me and makes a mockery of those people who's children do have leukaemia. My OH's mum has Leukaemia and it's despicable that she lied about that just to get the money for her daughters to win at competitions. It's not fair on the daughters either, how selfish can you get.
 
Really no different to the lowlifes who steal charity boxes... sad for the daughter though as it will reflect badly on her indefinately, despite not being her fault, and could prevent anyone taking her on later as they would not want the negative baggage.

I wouldn't worry about negative baggage. The showjumping world is full of it.

Talent and money shine through no matter what fraud or baggage has occurred.

I agree with that, however reputation tends to go by surname so I have found you get some members of a family who are straight and unfortunately get tarred with the same brush and struggle more for sponsorship. As you say money talks hence the temptation was there in the first place. Talented young riders need horses but then that is opening another contentious topic of funding in UK SJ - I won't even go there!
 
I happen to know these two girls i'm actually bestfriends with the eldest natasha!,these girls would never do anything bad theyve worked so hard for theyre ponies and horses but many jumpers dont like them i dont either, i love them they are the 2 nicest girls i have ever met1, when i heard about it i thought no this cant be true there are lots of bad things that jumpers have done! Natasha and jess are getting on really well with their jumping exept there are some Junior sj families tht wont forgive what thas been done ,half of the time i cant even remember that it happened!!xxxx
