*SHOWJUMPERS* - Technical jackets

I hate hate hate the "technical" jobbies: they look cheap, too short (bum freezers, my dad calls them) and tarty. Give me a well cut wool jacket with a single vent any day.

See i think as long as the jacket fits properly they don't look 'tarty' and i think it definately depends what you wear with them - colour, the persons age, and figure as well i have to say. I hope that doesnt offend anyone though.

Trying wearing one, comfortable, not too warm, easy to care for. Hate to say it but show jumping is a sport, not a 'tradition'. Its all about performance and comfort. Most horse sports are stuck in the past, and it creates a bad image.

I have the John Whitaker Millenium one - because it was cheap ;)

It was £117 which IMO compared to animo/equiport is a reasonable price - it fits well keeps me dry in awful british weather and isn't too blingy!

I really like the wool equiport ones so if I had the money would go for that

I'm trying to save for the easy care pikeur skarlett with the grey collar :)

Well after much research I have gone for an interesting compromise....

It seemed the plain navy technical jackets were reasonably priced, and it is the fancy collars and buttons seen on the Equiport etc that add on the extra money. So I have chosen a plain jacket which fits nicely, and bought velvet for collar, matching ribbon to add on the line along the top of the pocket, and a set of gold buttons. I have booked it in to the Haberdashery lady locally to have the alterations made, and she is charging me £15 - £20 to do it!

Im so excited for the final result, I will upload pics when it is all finished, but the whole thing comes in at just under £100!!!! Navy jacket, goldy/ beige velvet collar and pocket lines, gold buttons, to match my equiport numnah :)

I have a pikeur technical one which was about€300, but tried on a new horsewear ireland one for €65 and it felt nicer!!!
