My horse is currently in a loose ring snaffle with a copper lozenge, which she schools and hacks fine it. However, when it comes to jumping I lose a lot of brakes and end up having to pull a lot more than I'd like to, so I'm considering a slightly stronger bit so I can ride with a lighter hand. (As a short term solution, with schooling for the long term!)
Her previous owner jumped in a tom thumb for anything bigger than 90cm, so does anyone know the action of this bit, and if it should be with 2 reins or a curb? Or have any other bitting suggestions?

For schooling my boy was fine in a loose ring snaffle and out hacking but for Xc I needed a kimblewick or Pelham. He just got a little too strong and because I got nervous in these situations it was better to have control than tense and get into trouble.

I have the copper lozange loose ring snaffle for dressage i show jump in a bommer happy tounge & xc in a Cheltenham gag with leather cheeks .

What does he do when he gets strong?
