Showjumping Jackets - recommendations please

Noooo, don't go to the 'dark side' B :eek::eek::D I like the look of the Sarm Hip, or the first one (was that myselleria?) I personally think unless you're size 8 or under short jackets and white breeches are :(:( - the phrase 'does my bum look big in this' comes to mind, although of course you may be that size:) even so I still much prefer the classic look. Probably due to my age:eek:

Yes at the moment they have the navy and oyster, black with grey and navy with a petrol type blue. Bu i think if you ask them they might get a different one made up. They are quite a new company i think :)

But I like showjumping, just not at BE events. :p I agree that the bum-skimming jackets don't suit everyone and I'm sure I'd be one of those. :o

As a dreaded sjer i would say Animo, i have one and love it. I had real issues getting a off the peg jacket to fit as i have broad shoulders so for the same money as a custom Equiport i got an Animo. In the end it was the fact it was machine washable and stretchy that did if for me, it was so nice to have a jacket that let me have freedom through the shoulders.
There is a brand that is almost identical to Animo called Robby's Equestrian that cost half the price, ive seen them at Hickstead but can for the life of me remember what stall or company was stocking them.:o

Thanks, vam, I'm very broad-shouldered too so usually those that fit on the shoulders swamp me everywhere else.

Does this look like what you saw at Hickstead?

does this mean you are planning to go showjumping and NOT WEAR TWEED.... ;) but this is what eventers do (or at least what i do to highlight in vivid tweediness that the reason i can't SJ is because i am an eventer!! :D :D :D

Yep. :D The tweed and brown boots can stay in the wardrobe until spring. Perhaps the pressure of dressing like other showjumpers will make me raise my game (says she, hopefully :p).

The Enya jacket looks nice too - they didn't have that when I bought mine....Don't have a pic of me in the Pikeur Skarlett Jacket- will have to take one at w/e. I really thought I wouldn't like me in a shorter jacket, but was pleasantly surprised when I tried it on. I'm a size 10-12 & bought a 12 as I personally don't think skin tight is a good look when you're over 50!! I bought the plain blue, not pinstriped. I tend to wear pleated front breeches - again don't think ultra tight white ones do much for you at my age, but jacket still looks good with these.

(I also bought one of the dreaded Whitaker BS approved, slightly blouson style jackets for local shows and it's fabulously comfortable, although prob not smart enough for bigger shows /main ring classes.)

I really like the Enya jacket, I wonder where I'll find one of those in stock to try on.

I've been looking along these lines too but every 'soft shell jacket I have tried on has looked dreadful. Doesn't seem to hang properly don't know if it's the material but they don't sit flat on the lapels and the seams don't seem look smooth? I don't want a tight fitting one but maybe they are supposed to be more tight fitting because they don't look great loose!

Ahhh the jacket thats about 2 sizes bigger than it needs to be then gapes round the front, i know that one :rolleyes

They are the ones but looked nicer in the flesh, i guess you wont know until you try one if its going to look nice. I've found the details of the stockist for them if you want them but i think the Enya linked would look smarter to be honest.

Not sure if the Animo's will be smart enough for dressage but mine is really plain so i could get away with it but i do like my strechy jacket for jumping.

Oh don't say that, :( I've only seen the Equiline one and that was lovely tailoring, but seemed like quite a thick fabric even though it was still stretchy. What make did you try on, walker1234? I like the look of these Pikeur jackets, especially the one at the bottom:

Which model is your Animo jacket please? Maybe I should go to Olympia, I'm sure there'll be loads I could try on there? :D

I'm pretty sure this one comes in navy too: http://www.schockemoehle.net/shop/product_info.php?cPath=103_113_194&products_id=4576 Much more traditional looking but in the soft shell material - I tried one and it was lovely - then I saw the price tag :(

I'm having a toss up between the pikeur epsom and the skarlett - more for stressage than SJ, but it'll have to double up for showing, so I'm not sure what to go for. Fortunately I think I can get away with the shorter jacket, seeing as I am supposedly 'out of proportion' in the legs:body ratio  If you have a long body it'd probably look worse.

I've found one of those stocked locally so might go and try it on, although I'd rather fall in love with a cheaper one. :p
