Can anyone tell if this is true...Whilst at a show today I was told when entering the ring you are not allowed to trot up to a fence which you think your horse may find spooky and show it to your horse/pony this can event in elmination is this true???:rolleyes

yes, true in a way!
What you can't do is be obvious! Don't trot up to a fence directly, stop and let you and your horse look and sniff it!!
But what you can do, is trot past it or walk past it and even walk past it - stop beside it and salute the judge (horse can then see jump, but your not being obvious!).
I generally have a good canter around the arena, circle a 'spooky' jump and then start - there is 60 seconds once bell has gone before you have to start.

Under BS rules you are allowed to show a horse a fence. If you were competing unaffiliated though it would depend on the individual shows rules (and possibly the judges / organisers grasp of current BS rules if they are referring to them !)...

It was a BS(JA) rule at one point but I think they scrapped it because it got a bit too subjective!
