showjumping training

hi guys,
i was wondering if anyone of you know what the best way to build up adiquate "bum muscles" for showjumping is. i recently bought a 5yo IDxTB from the field and he has such a lack in muscle and i was wondering if anyone had some tips and training methods i could use?
i was hoping to be competing unaff sj in winter leauges this year, and bsja from febuary 2010...
any sugestions??

I don't think there are specific exercises as such. I would just do normal fittening work. As long as he is fit enough there is no reason why he couldn't go jumping this winter.
 
I use lots of hills and hacking, making them walk forwards and off the leg. In the school lots of transitions trying to include some within the pace, start with pole work then move onto jumping including grids. Might not be any help but it worked for me.
As said above as longs as he is fit you can jump him through the winter. If you have an instructor they should be able help you with exercises and fittening work.

ive tryed the grids but he just thinks ARHHHH!!! and decides to jump them all at once hahaa so we are doing a lot more to correct that
