shows in aberdeenshire area?

I am wanting to start showing my mare but i don't know where there is shows. my mare is 5 years old and has never been to a show before i was going to go to turriff show but i thought it might be a bit big and loud for her to go there for a start. i was hoping to take her to something a bit smaller to start with does anyone know of any in the aberdeenshire/turriff area?


Also would she need to be plaited? she is a fine tbx grey coloured.


the type of showing i want to do is in-hand coloured classes or ride and drive in-hand.

Hi Emily, you live in the right place if you are looking for shows close by, coming up are Buchan RC show, Ythan RC show @ Turriff, NERC show, New Deer show, If you google any of these, you should find schedules, there are lots more as well, but these would be closest!
I would just get her out and about and see how she gets on, Turriff would be a massive ask for any horses first show, think pipe bands, motorbike displays, huge crowds, umbrellas, buggies, unhorsey people walking through the horse area, etc etc!

If she is fine you would need to plait, perhaps you could go and study some coloured classes at other shows and see how other people are turning their horses out of similar type, Good luck with your horse.

Ythan is a really nice show, I went there on my first pony a few years ago, it's a nice atmosphere and not too crowded

thats the one i'm just looking into
i didn't realise most shows are in a few weeks i thought they were later in the year more august time! less time to prepare but hopefully it will be fine.
