Now so many shows have their schedules available on the web, do you think those who don't miss out on a lot of potential entrants? I know when I'm searching for suitable shows/competitions I look at all the ones with schedules online first, and would only send off an SAE for a schedule if there was nothing else interesting on that day or if I knew for certain it contained suitable classes. There is nothing more annoying to send off for a schedule and then find there is nothing suitable in it!

Definitely.

I would always choose a show that had a schedule on the web over one that didn't (all other things being equal).

Online entry is always a bonus in my opinion too.

Tbh...all the shows I go to have online schedules. Occasionally I get a schedule through the post where someone has used a BSJA mailing list, but they're rare.

In fact I lie...Royal Leisure don't publish schedules but they do pretty much run the same classes week in and week out...and anyway, their classes are listed on the BSJA website.

I would expect that most affiliated competitions would now have online schedules - it is more likely to be the smaller local competitions which have not yet caught up with the modern world, LOL!

Yes I agree.

The only 'local' show we really go to is Bexhill, and even that had a schedule on the web this year. I got some schedules thru' the post for some Southern Counties Horse Shows at Plumpton (Affiliated) but I don't think they have a website

Frustrating when shows are listed on the directory on BSJA site but dont give schedule just address and phone no. Hard to plan ahead if your trying to prepare for a class.

so yes if two similar shows on the same day I'd go to the one which had a web schedule

Most of the Pony Clubs and Riding Clubs seem to have their schedules online, as do the equestrian centres that run events - it seems to be the small independent shows that often don't.

We've had a couple of smaller shows around here that didn't have an online schedule - was quite a shock to have to do the SAE thing! The other advantage of online schedules is that you don't have to worry about losing them and you don't have a stack of them cluttering up the house!

BTW, I think the Southern Counties show is part of the Colette's series and they do have a website with the schedule on

Yeah, you're right...they are part of the Colette's thing (never heard of it before

I don't know how many BSJA entries they would have had for their show last weekend as everyone from that part of the world seemed to be at Felbridge

Did you goto southern counties on Sunday?
I was there with my youngster. How did you get on?

No, we went to Felbridge instead. How did you get on ?

Were the BSJA classes well supported ? I'd be quite surprised if they got enough entries to run the 1.20m Amateur class as they often struggle to fill anyting bigger than 1.15m even at the permanent centres

It was so quiet couldn't belive it ther were only very limited entries in each class.
I only did an inhand class and came 2nd

One thing I love is if a Dressage show has a web site where you can get your time(s) from. It saves having to be around at a certain day/time to call, queuing to get through to the organiser, saves the organiser's time and cuts out the potential for the organiser mistakedly giving out the wrong time) - I'm not sure if that happens but they're only human after all!
I also like to go and see all the results posted afterwards and have a nosey!!

Oh yes - getting your times on the web is such a god send! No more having to remember to phone at a set time and then finding the phone engaged and having to sit there constantly re-ringing!
