Shyboy has shiny new boots !

Oops what I meant is can they have new soles in or something when they wear down, kind of seems a shame for the rest of the boot to be thrown away but I suppose they'd be knackered after two years!

Yeah I want something as easy as the cavallos but with more grip and less clump :D. Hopefully her own feet with be sufficient :D

I like the jumping pic lol. She has her first ever comp on Sat so hope she manages to lift off :o

Mine don't even look like they have been worn yet. It just depends on the horse how much you use them. Mine are fine on all surfaces except miles of sharp stones (and we do miles of Tarmac and forestry tracks which they are fine on). Looking back it was the frosty bit of the winter I decided I needed them as she was a little footy and I thought I'd worn her feet out but it could have been the frosty grass in hindsight. All a learning curve.

Buy Boa gaiters for them. The cavallo ones are a waste of space.

Be aware they are prone to rubbing and bruising the heel bulbs as the back of them is very 'upright' compared to the average heel. Less od an issue once the leathers gone soft though.

Yep Cavallo Simples. The only time she has slipped in them has been on verges/leaves at the side of the road. We haven't done any proper off road hacking in them yet. We've also forded a stream in them without any problems.
 
oooh! These look good! Looking for an alternative to to boas as no matter what I do my boy seems slighty sore over particular stony tracks, plus I'd really like to get him out for longer than I'm managing at the moment. BOAs aren't that easy to put on, plus people have mentioned them damaging the hoof wall which is putting me off using them... :(
 
I have the equine fusions and they are really good! Id recommend them if your budget can stretch. I actually managed to get hold of a proto type pair for just thirty quid and whilst they have a small drawback in that they are a bit fiddly they are still brilliant. They have rectified the fiddly bits so I imagine the new ones are awesome! When these run out I will def be getting the newwer model. Weve had no rubbing, they stay on and my girl walks out like theres nothing on her feet. They are extremely flexible too.
 
Please be very careful using those boots on the roads. I don't know if it's because horses get more confident after being barefoot for a while or what - my horse spooked only very slightly and fell right over on the road on them. It wasn't a rainy day or a manhole or anything. She fell right on her side and I fell off and she ran away. Luckily her flight distance is not very far before she turns and comes back to me and all the traffic (which was very heavy) was kind enough to stop but it was absolutely terrifying.

Lucy (my trimmer) suggested that when the soles are broken in and well scratched the grip gets better but even so I won't go out on roads in them again. We use them just for rocky tracks now and I would rather tie them to my saddle and put them on at the beginning of a bridlepath if necessary.

Your horse is lovely by the way.

depends on the boots, I have easy boot gloves for which you can buy separate parts so the 'shells' make part of the sole.

I've had mine 9 months, estimate probably used for an hour hack on roads 3/4 times a week for 6 months and very little wear, back to wearing them again as has been a bit footy of late. I do think that my the time the soles go the neoprene gaiters will have had it too!
 
Thanks everyone. It's all a big learning curve for us, as I had never even seen a boot before buying these. I'll bear in mind about the slipping too.

A lady stopped me yesterday to ask about Shy, as she has a very similar girl, same age, tho she has two wall eyes - and barefoot too - we are going round to meet them soon - might be lurve :)
