My boy is about to have his SI joints injected this afternoon and I was wondering what kind of experience people have had. How long before you see an improvement and can they go back to full work.
Bit of History: He is a 19 year old Advanced Endurance horse and up until this year has not had a problem. He has always moved well. He always takes time to warm up but once there he has a lovely long flowing stride. In February this year I felt that he was not working as well so had bloods done , which all came back normal. I also had the "Succeed" test done which showed both Gastric and Hind Gut Ulcers. Within two weeks he was so much happier and moving well.
At an Endurance event one of the vets said he looked stiff and the beginning and although not lame he still looked stiff at the end (He had moved very well throughout the ride.) The vet showed me that one hip was very slightly higher than the other.
My vet came out again two weeks ago and said that he was slightly higher one side and was also sore, again moving stiffly but not lame. He suggested that my boy had his SI joints injected then Acupuncture and Physiotherapy.
As I believe that this has come about due to him moving differently, once the Gastric Ulcers healed I am hoping that I will see good results quickly.
