Been involved with sibes for years. What specifically are you wanting to know? Otherwise the post will be several pages
ETS... Basic things i guess are:-
1) Cant be off leads
2) Shouldnt be trusted around any smaller animal
3) Need a LOT of exercise or will become very destructive
4) Are very noisy

Oh dear!! Cant be off lead is crap, coz I want it up the yard with me and out riding!
Shouldnt be trusted with smaller animals, Ive got two cats!
The LOTS of excersise bit is ok.
Very Noisy? In wot way? I dont wonna upset the neighbours!
Cant let the off a lead... they're running dogs.. they will run and not come back If you read any sites about huskies or speak with breeders they will all tell you the same thing.. never let them off the lead and be very very careful about having them loose in the garden. They can jump, they can dig and more interestingly, they can climb. (Mine scaled her way over a 5 foot stone wall). You need to sink the fencing under ground by a couple of feet and then have it approximately 6 foot tall to keep them contained.
Smaller animals.. they're very efficient hunters and they will attack smaller animals.. they're also god damn fast Mine caught a mouse out on her walk this week. Huskies have been known to turn on cats that they have lived with their whole lives... wouldnt trust mine at all
Noisy ... huskies "talk" which is a kind of howling. They'll do it when they get excited and they do it if they're left on their own (they arent a dog you should leave on their own anyway. They really need to be with you 24/7). Its very very loud
Thank you very very much Tierra, thats a real eye opener!
I had planned to go and look at one tonight, but really dont think its the right dog for me now!
Theyre lovely dogs, but they arent "trainable" dogs and they're very special. People either love them or hate them (from a personality point of view.. i know many find them stunning in appearance).
They really need "working" to keep them sane but it all has to be controlled circumstances.
Theyre not a dog that will ever be obedient.. huskies just dont work that way at all
Hi, ive owned Sibes for a long time at the moment i have 5. They are the most lovable dogs ive ever owned. However a lot of what Tierra says is very true. You cannot let these dogs off the lead, i have had certain dogs that where an exeption to this rule. But it really is not something you can do!!
They are very friendly dogs & love being in family homes but with plents of stimulous, space & exercise. I help with Siberian Rescue & some of the people who take these dogs on as cute pups really get a shock & end up kicking them out. Its very sad.
Ive never had a problem with cats with my dogs i always have cats in my home.
I would say if your thinking of having a dog that you can take to the yard & let it off the lead then the Sibe is not for you. They are cute as pups but they are hard work up until around 2 years of age when they do calm down a little. The average age for these dogs coming in for re-homing is 6 months normally when they are at the spotty teenage house wrecking & escaping stage.
I did many years ago have a Siberian trash the inside of my car cost over £400.00 quid to put write. She was 5 months old at that point. She never did it again!! But im just illustraiting that they can be destructive if left alone for periods at young ages.
I wouldnt swap mine for the world but my home & big garden is adapted for Husky living lol.

I disagree That there not trainable. They are & they are quite bright dogs. However they do become completely switched off if they think they can have some fun & chase something. Hence never letting off the lead if they see something they will be gone & no amount of shouting will get them back.
Mine walk to heal on leads & go round Badminton with me every year i only take 2 though not 5 lol. They sit, lie down all on command never had one who didnt.
Mine is half Husky and he never comes back when called if he sees another dog (other than that he would stay quite close off the lead). I can definately vouch for the destructiveness as well! Otherwise he is a lovely soppy dog when we're all at home. The Halti has been a life changer when walking him and the lead is slack 90% of the time.
I have a Husky X Lurcher, a truly nightmare cross. He is very Husky in temperament and to say he has not been an easy dog is an understatement, he is now ten years old and is still not safe around livestock and totally deaf when he chooses to be. He's ok with cats and rarely barks but can yodel for England which is very hard on the ears! Huskies are really a dog for the dedicated and experienced owner.

Did I hear my name
I have to agree with what the guys above have said if you want a dog to let off lead around the yard and to follow you around on your horse they are definately not the dog for you
They can be brought up with cats but as someone above said you could never fully trust them together even if they get on with your cats all other cats will be fair game
If you dont mind always having a lead in your hand, lots of fur for breakfast, lunch, dinner in your cup of tea, molehills in your garden and the want for 6 or 7 more then I`d say go for it but do your research first and meet lots of reputable breeders, the breeders that breed for temperment and to the breed standard the ones who breed to further the breed not the ones who breed for money and money alone
There are two very different types of sibe in this country. The slim line leggy ones who are built for speed and racing and the bulky shorter legged show type, go to shows and rallies speak to people who have the type of dog you like and find out where they come from and what kind of lines then speak to those breeders
Oh and heres a vid of my boys making the kind of noise all sibes make
