Sick guinea pig

Hi all,

My sow Noinin (2 and a half ish) is having very fast, loud breathing, and sounds almost congested? It sounds so strange but it sounds almost like an actual pig grunting. I've been straight on to the vets and they can't see us until 2.30 so I thought I'd pop on here and see if anyone has any ideas as I will go demented waiting for the vet. She is eating and drinking, I've just even seen her do a little popcorn. Just wondering has anyone has this before and has any ideas? Or if there is something I should be doing between now and the vets appointment.

Upper respiratory infection? Quite common in guinea pigs. Hopefully the vet should help you, good luck x

Just like her mammy she is a greedy greedy pig, the vet had a good look around and she has scraped her throat, most likely with hay. Needless to say it's going in the bin and ill try to find something softer but knowing her she forgot to chew adequately. She's had an anti inflammatory injection and she seems happy enough phew
