Im absolutely shocked! This man is near where I live and I cannot believe its going on. This is the first Ive heard about it, however I will be forwarding this link to my local newspaper to see if they can put it in. I have contacted the RSPCA to see exactly what they are doing about it, although it sounds like very little. Is it true there is no law against skinning animals in this country?

And who the hell buys German Shepherd fur anyway? This is sick.

They'd better find him, or by God I will and he'll find out what being skinned feels like.
When oh, when are the authorities going to step in and speak for the animals who have no voice?
How much longer are we going to accept this as normal?
My God, enough is ENOUGH!

Just remember that this is in the News of the World.

Now, lets have a look at the story.

Well, there's a photo of a man with some dogs that appear to be in good condition.

The evidence that he is skinning dogs is that locals are 'convinced'. Talk about hearsay!

The ban on keeping dogs doesn't ring true. Especially when it says the ban doesn't operate outside of Berkshire. Then the penny drops! It was a noise abatement order which the News of the World is masquerading as a cruelty ban!!!

No, they don't actually say his ban is for cruelty, but they imply it.

So what's the next accusation? Ah yes, a worker found dog?? remains in an old oil drum. Clearly nothing that could have supported a cruelty case or it would have been investigated.

Now maybe he was in breach of laws relating to the disposal of animal carcasses, but then maybe he wasn't since he had left the property some time before the workers moved in.

We are told that the authorities cannot pin anything on him despite the noise and stench. Well sorry, but environmental health is all powerful and has powers that the RSPCA can only dream of. If there was actionable noise or smell they would have done something, as indeed Berkshire appears to have done in the past.

Then of course we have the panic 'these dogs could attack someone' and the inevitable howls from the members of the witch hunt in the comments below along with the calls to vigilanteism and even more outrageous claims that are impossible to prove.

There is a post about this in the Dogs section. I knew this man when he was first in trouble and it certainly wasn't just about noisy dogs! I have no idea if the claims he is skinning dogs is true, but I am horrified that he appears to have a number of GSDs again. I don't know what powers the SSPCA have but hope they are more use than the RSPCA and will be able to investigate this case thoroughly.

I cant read the link either, just the headline has shocked and saddened me.

It's truley shocking that their are people out there in our world that have the urge to do things of this nature on animals.

My local newspaper is trying to find out more about, they're a highly respected paper so I would assume they'll only print the facts. I think this'll help draw the locals attention to it so hopefully something will be forced to happen.

But seriously, who buys German Shepherd fur???

i can fully understand what fenris is saying espec after reading the crap that was printed about the rottie who didnt kill him owner, however if this is true it is disgusting and something needs to be done. will we ever know the full truth though???

Unfortunately the International trade in animal skins is rife and dogs, cats etc are being skinned all over the world, there was a television broadcast about the collecting and skinning of stray dogs on the continent about a year ago.

Organisations such as the WSPA continue to fund projects to put these practices to a stop so it wouldn't surprise me if people in this country were also involved in such practices.

He used to be a breeder and handler in the 1980s. He had a champion bitch, Deshwar Marshadesh of Nidibed...from that picture, the dogs look in pretty good nick.
The NOTW ran a story about him about ten years ago or more, I seem to recall.
