Sick of Pony club mums.

Thankfully my daughter only did 2 seasons of Pony Club. And YES many of the mums and women in charge of some of the PC branches are awful self opinionated snobs.
God I hated it with a vengeance. I remember 'camp' and every mum had to volunteer to help for a session (fair dos) and donate a 'meal', as if the high cost wasn't enough!!! We are a busy fulltime working family of 3 children and my meal was lasagne - I was again unsurprisingly running late to send daughter off to camp and at the last minute just provided a shop bought lasagne and that obviously wasn't good enough as I was given it back at the end of camp as 'surplus to requirements'!

I had the last laugh though as the so called well bred organiser was having an affair with one of the PC mum's husband and all hell broke loose over that at the end of camp. So much for being upper class ha ha.

BUT BEFORE I get shot down of course all peops and mums associated with Pony Club aren't like that!!! The DC in our area was wonderful too - it was just the snobby self obsessed minority who stand out loud and clear sadly!

It is a shame it can be so cliquey as the discounted clinics etc were fab for my daughter at the time.
It was definately one rule for some though - I can remember a mum really screaming at the instructor who was doing a cross country clinic lesson getting the youngsters jumping over a very narrow fence. This mum just went ballistic at the instructor because her son's horse refused the fence a couple of times screaming 'what a pointless exercise it was and what was there to gain from it'! Now I had been told that PC mum's mustn't interfere at these clinics. Well if that wasn't out of order I don't know what you would have to do?

Sorry, I have to say this.

For several years I have been a PC Mum, also Committee Member, Club Secretary and general dogsbody/gofer/nanny, and as all of those, I, and my fellow parents/volunteers etc get mightily fed up with the 'PC Mums' too you know. Also with the spoiled, whingy brats who think they are better than everyone else and seem to think they have a right to win everything, we also get fed up with being taken for granted without a word of thanks.

Pony Club Mums get pretty sick of being stereotyped too, sure, there are the ambitious, push your child to live your own dreams type, but aren't they (as in parents) to be found in every walk of life? Just go to any competitive gathering or club for that.

Please, all you PC Mum slammers, especially Members, look at your club for a minute. I bet that you will find an awful lot of parents giving up time and energy to try to make the Club a worthwhile place to be. Who does refreshments at shows, runs around clearing up after shows, sets up before shows, babysits at camp and rallies etc, etc, etc?

Ignore the 'PC Mums' that annoy you, one day, when you have kids you too may be a PC Mum and may just want your child to do the best they can.

I defy anyone, whatever age/experience they may be, to say that they have stood ring side and not criticised someone in the ring at some point or other, whether to your mate next to you, or just in your head.

*applauds*

I'd just typed out a long essay saying that and lost it! So thank you for putting it so well.

the pc i go to is really nice exept for one girl :L shes the same age as me (13) and has 5 ponoes and a horse!! i just have dolly :) well all of her ponies are experienced and about 14 hands. but her horse is 16h and is only 5. she wins on the ponies but never on the horse ( unsurprisingly!!) we were at camp and the pony she had brought went lame so she asked her mum if she could use my horse. no, she didnt ask me  because dolly is 16h we start 1hour after her usal group cause we do it staggered times so that its not to mad with everybody getting on at once. i only realised when dolly wasnt in her stable:mad:

then when she was jumping dolly ( who is five) she was not riding her the way i do, i dont know if it was better or worse, all i know was that it was a diffrent style, and dolly got confused and the girl got cross and i think that she beging to abuse my horse!!!!! but thats just me, but the instructer wasnt to pleased either i dont think as she gave me my horse and told me to put her back in her stable!!!!!! :)
