Does anyone actually get on with these flipping things. I've used them on 3 different horses and while I love the ease of putting them on they won't stay on. I blamed the first two for being big movers but new cob doesn't have a big over track and still one came off tonight. Heel captivator stayed on and the rest pulled off.

Baring in mind I spend about 3 hours faffing about adjusting them (who designed that adjustment system it's ridiculous!) I am so hacked off!

Tried cavallos before but they rubbed another horse raw and too clumpy I think although I am rather tempted just to get a pair for now. Like easy boot epics other than the clip and the front is a nightmare to get off.

So what would I like for this horse? Answers on a postcard please!

Oh and she has giant feet. Size 4WW renegades just go on her feet. She would be a size 6 cavallo. Round feet.

I'm not buying new as I won't need them for long so just looking for people's experiences please not suggestions to phone a shop for advice ;)

love my gloves :p, easier with a mallet but other than that :p. I know they are usually for fully transitioned feet but frank has had them since day 1, same size, just with added power straps. They just about coped with new forest bog, but would have been better with tape as once hooves are wet if one comes off they tend to pop off on any canter (but easier enough to pop on again).

I've asked shops, never bought from them :p.

There's a couple of 'fake' type renegades about now? scoots I'm still unconvinced by, they are definitely clumpier/not as great breakover as the glove shell. fusions I've ever seen in real life.

Thank you. It's only the getting on and off that puts me off the gloves. I just think in the middle of winter when it's freezing and I've got 30 mins to ride I'm not going to like them lol.

Her feet are good, I just want to do more than they are ready for, before it's winter. She was shod with raging thrush but the thrush is gone as are the shoes, one frog no longer has a cleft and the others look clean now but I'm still on it.

I was looking at a pair of (new!) fusions on eBay just now. They look easy to get on and a bit comfier than cavallos...

Have you seen the Swiss Gallopers. I want them just for the name but alas too small for princess big foot.

Never had a renegade come off - mine have been on 3 horses, in just about every situation imaginable, even with Dae who forges like a twit.

I do love the look of the SWISS Gallopers though...

see I used to take the gloves on and off mid ride, there's nothing to adjust so they don't take long with a bit of knack.

Someone posted recently who had made glove/renegade hybrids. with glove shells and renegade captivators, becauase she was getting through the renegade shell bits too quick.

It was the gallopers I was thinking of, I thought there might be another one but maybe not!

I don't know - I'm a bit lax about fiddling with them as it's a bit of an arse to do, but they do stay put well. Even when Fergs got stuck in the mud on the river bank, and through Essex clay. Dae forges and overtracks a lot too and he always used to wear them for fast work and fast hacking. It always surprises me that they're still there at the end of a ride.

I really like the look of them, actually. I could be tempted if I didn't like my renegades so much. Swiss Galoppers :D

Have you looked at scoot boots? my highland has large, round feet and they gave the best fit out of the boots I looked at. Been using them for over a year, including through some very sticky bogs and never had a problem with them. They are very easy to put on with a pair of pliers!

Can you come and give me a lesson please Ester.

Yeah yeah whatever they are called. You know what I mean!! The boot is actually coming apart rather than simply coming off. We were only trotting tonight as well. Had to get the child to get off to get it for me then remount her mental horse who doesn't like being mounted out hacking then carry it home for me. Be a bit rubbish if she wasn't there to get it for me.

I have bought a new set of screws so maybe that will help. I'd advise never to adjust them ever because you will throw them out the window it's such a pain in the ass.

Lol easy to put on with a pair of pliers doesn't sound very easy :D

Maybe I'll just get fronts put on.

Nooooooooo - kidding!

I have a big moving Warmblood and use Scoot boots in front on him. He can be quite sharp and uptight about new things but had no issues with them at all from the first time I tried them on him.
We've done about 70 miles in them now across different terrain and they stay on fine.

Interesting thank you. That's two votes for them now lol. Do you need pliers to put them on tho?

!

That's why I carry a whip when I'm hacking - so I can pick up whatever I drop (unless its the whip - that doesn't work!). I reckon if I gave up polocrosse, I'd just carry my racquet out hacking so I'd never have to dismount for anything again...

even without PC training I have been known to pick up a stray boot ;)

Lol my whip isn't long enough. Remember I'm at least a hand further off the ground than you pair! Plus older and more decrepit and inflexible. Oh AND I have a child for menial tasks so why would I bother doing *anything* myself :D

I did exactly what I said I was not going to do and have priority ordered the scoot boots. She says the renegades are too small for these feet so can't really blame them for falling off after all.

She did say the scoot boots will either be a perfect fit or too small as we are right at the top of the size chart. Funny, her feet don't LOOK that big :)

Anyone want to buy a pair of 4WW renegades :D

The Fusions are great - really easy to get on, and seem very comfy. I've had two horses in them, and never had any issues

Never lost a Fusion. I had Cavallos, they spun, clogged, and tore. Had ultras on the front, ultimates on the back. I loved that I could put thick pads in them if necessary. She had odd, skinny feet - although not any more, hurrah. I am selling the ultras, but they are titchy (13 slims) so no good for you, sorry. She's ok at the moment but I am saving up for these: http://www.evohorse.com/ Although I admit they look a bit of a faff, whereas the Fusions were so simple to put on.

Good luck in your search.

Also have fusions and never lost one! Though now her feet are so much healthier I'm debating whether to up-grade now with something neater like the easyboot gloves...

I love the renegades, if they are pulling off do you need to cut them back? (presuming you are talking about the fronts) I am just trying the scoots. I haven't found them the easiest to fit. Horse's feet are just very slightly wide so there is more of a gap in the front V. However I have used one on 3 tarmac rides now. It has stayed on, doesn't twist and certainly the tread is going to stand up to roadwork unlike the renegade classics. Very easy to wash. Good tread on mud which to my mind is the number one priority when choosing a boot. Less clumpy than gloves and the breakover is good. They won't fit my fronts which are a renegade 4ww. The feet are just slightly too round. The scoots are large for their size.

I haven't needed pliers. My fingers are not that strong but I have found the front straps easy to fasten. Nice boots to take off as you don't have to squat down just pick the foot up and unfasten them with the foot in the air.

If it wasn't for the shape not being quite right for mine I would probably have him in 4 scoots. Hopefully we will manage 2 behind.

Thanks for that. I like the look of the scoots so we'll just see what happens tomorrow! The renegades I now know are too small for this horse but previous horses which I actually got them for, forged them off. I don't think they needed cut back tho. Neither of those need boots now tho so I'm just going to sell them to pay for most of the scoots hopefully.

Thanks all. I shall report back tomorrow!

Horses for courses I guess. Must depend on how horse moves in part. I love my renegades, I've had them for 8 years (before they were even sold in the UK, had to import them straight from manufacturers!) and never had one come off. He doesn't forge though. My sister has had the scoots come off in heavy mud (and the trout hatchery at burghley fun ride!). I'd offer to take yours off your hands but I think BBP could fit both front feet into a 4ww. (His are size zero or 00 I think!) Good like ck with the scoots!

Ha ha the renegades were bought for Daisy who is the same height and at least twice the width of BBP :D. Both her and Peaches have a huge over track. The don't normally forge but I blamed that for them not staying on.

Parcel force express24 have told me that my parcel picked up on the 13th will be delivered on or by the 15th. It's a while since I did any mathematics but when I can work out there's more than 24 hours between the 13th and the 15th!! They better get here tomorrow or I'll be jumping up and down lol.

Parcelforce add an extra day delivery time to some parts of Scotland.

I have Renegades, I bought them for the anticob but they didn't stay put (not funny on a busy road!) for long. I think it was down to his heels being too high and his action not straight enough. Those boots are currently being tried on my little TB, they are a bit on the big side, but are staying put so far. He normally wears Cavallos with pastern wraps and has never been rubbed, nor lost one anywhere, even when he was wearing them 23 hours per day.

The same horse tried Fusions (can't remember which) and they rubbed, plus they had sod all grip on the roads. I loathed the Easyboots I had, awful to put on and take off, unless I trotted, in which case they came off very easily!

I'd like to try Renegades on the fat Appy, but she has whacking great bin lids for feet and I'm not sure they'd fit.
