I have tried to buy various things on ebay now and keep getting beaten by annoying people with these stupid downlaods that beat any price at the very last second.
Buying has become near impossible sometimes...not fair on genuine folk trying to get a bargain.
Just having a moan really...got cold legs and wanted those chaps! pa!

Not heard of the download?
Ive not really had a problem. If theres something I really want I wait til the last 20 seconds and put the highest amount Im prepared to pay. If I lose it, its more than I wanted to pay anyway so nothing lost. Sometimes Ive bid much more than the other bidders but get it for much less than my max bid as ebay bids the next £1 up, if that makes sense

I've tried bidding under the last 20 seconds but sometimes still get beaten, i know sometimes it luck but gets a bit frustrating.
Arrr but sometimes its nice to think someone has paid a little more because of your bid !!!! anyway if they want to pay more than you decided it was worth then good luck to them eh...

you're definitely right there, the price of some of the things people buy they may as well gone and bought new sometimes, maybe i should just make a 'things needed for riding pot' maybe i'll get those winter essentials by spring!!

i just put on what i want to pay as a max bid and then dont look at it until i get an email thro. if i dont win it then its more than i wanted to pay and if i do then great. best way in my eyes

I gave up on that lark, i go for the buy now goodies-still cheap.

A firm upper limit and some free Sniper software to download and you could soon be that annoying person who steals everything at the last minute! It's not for me, I'm a bid realistically once and leave it kinda gal, but my dad swears by it.

I have recently been watching sewing machines, bidding on a couple, but cannot believe the prices they have been going for, so out came the Argos book, and I decided on one and at £129.99, went to the shop to get it and it was in the sale for £89.99, bargain so chuffed, as it was the same model as the one i was bidding on, that sold for £84!!!!! and I get 12 mnts waranty, same goes for some purfume I was bidding, I know the same stuff was on sale in boots for £10....sold on ebay for 12.50...madness, not all on ebay is a bargain, but love it all the same.

agree with above choose your max amount bid it and wait and see. Doesn't matter if you bid 24 hours or 24 secs before it ends if it goes over your max amount it goes over! One piece of advice always add 1p to your max so if your max is £5 bid £5.01 and so on, it has won me a few items over the years ;)

You only get beaten by someone who is prepared to pay more than you, what's wrong with that? It's an auction & things sell to the highest bidder. I don't use any assistance to bid, I bid in the last few seconds & if I get outbid it's my own fault because I didn't bid high enough. No point whinging about it. If you want it then think about a realistic price & bid that....you may get it for less? ;)

I love ebay - sell loads, buy loads - actually have a rule that unless I have the money in Paypal I do not bid...

Anyway, I find the best method is to NEVER bid until the last 20 seconds and then put in upper limit plus 2p - I do not use any special software and win 99% of the time.

I do not bid early because you risk raising the price of the item as others try to outbid you in the early stages - If you hold your hand until the last min value stays lower. Simples.

They are not all downloads.. I wont bid in any auction until the last 15 seconds.. Risky as you can still be outbided but generally works for me :)

Very seldom buy anything on e bay but if there is something that is what I have been looking for I use one of the automatic bidding sites and put in max I would pay and let it get on with it.

Placing last second bids is the whole point of ebay !!

Agree. Also have a look at bidding agents. Phantombidder is free for the first 2 weeks then costs about 3-4 pounds for another 10 bids. You only pay if you win.

You can select the time for the bid to go in between 20 and 3 seconds.. Good luck!

I gave up on ebay for any of the auction style listings. I now only buy things from Buy it Now listings, you know the price you are getting it for and no messing about. I have always used it for buying horse trailer parts for my trailer but now use sites like Smile Equestrian and Horse Trailer Shop which are just as cheap as ebay.

Buy now are usually Business Seller which have to charge the same price or sometimes a little more due to ebay fees.

If you look at the Buy it Now sellers ebay page and google the name it will show you the name to the actual shop outside ebay where most items will be cheaper.

I use auction sniper occasions if I really want something so I suppose I am one of those annoying people! I bid with 3 secs to go and generally win as there isn't time for another bid to go in. It's not cheating and it is annoying if I haven't used it and get beaten by someone who has but that's the chance you take with ebay.
Mostly tho I am too impatient to wait for an auction to end and stick to buy it nows.
