Siddle Veterinary Services / SVS Vets in Shropshire?

try SVS they were great with my horse and not too pricey as doesn't charge call out when u book in advance. Mark was very good and patient with our young horse so I have been very pleased

Never used SVS but have both a hearty recommendation and one to definitely avoid, in Shropshire, if that's any good to you?

Hi Blackcob - we have just moved over from south Wales to Shropshire and I am looking for a good horse vet for my cob and also a good dog vet - would be really grateful for your recommendations as we know nobody round here yet!! thanks :)

2 of my friends used to work there, Mark does the veterinary side and his partner Chantel (sp?) breeds, events etc.

I personally from what I know wouldn't use them, you can pm me if you like. He is, from what I hear, a nice chap though BUT..

I'm in Shrewsbury, Shropshire and use Fyrnwy Equine Clinic and I would highly recommend them, they've been brilliant in the past 7 years I've used them. Lovely, lovely vets.

Where about have you moved to in Shropshire?

I can recommend a good dog vet too but Shropshire a big area so let me know!

Welcome to Shropshire! Do you like it :) ?

hi have sent you a message - I think!
yes we are loving Shropshire - we have a labrador and a small terrier so looking for a vet good with all breeds dog wise - we had a lovely vet where we were before who did horses and the dogs at home sort of thing as had known them for years.

We are between Market Drayton and Shrewsbury and didnt realise how rural it was here!!

Dog wise then you're not too far from Telford where a friend is practising (just trying to find name of practice now for you) and she is an excellent dog vet; she's also qualified in natural medicines and acupuncture too, people travel miles for her to see their animals. She is the main vet at their branch in Telford but they also have their main branch in Shrewsbury not too far from Tesco so on your side of the town! Will get back to you when I have that name.

I can highly recommend SVS - Mark did an amazing job with my TB when he was lame - never pushed treatment that wasnt appropriate or overcharged for the sake of it which I have had with some practices who just have large animal vets rather than equine specific.

Also when dealing with SVS on the phone you dont just get a receptionist you either speak to the wife or one other lady and they are both really helpful when I have phoned - even in the middle of the night once with a colic, his wife kept me on the phone and kept me calm.

I did use Fyrnwy once on recommendation of my old vet and had some melanomas removed on my grey - however both he and I found the whole thing traumatic and have since been told that they should have perhaps been left alone as removal may trigger regrowth more aggresively :( - on reflection I just felt they wanted the money as they knew it was an insurance case.

That just my opinion :)
