I have a 5 yo Connie mare bought in Ireland in June. She is very talented and scopey although we found out that she has an ossification of the flexible collateral cartilage on the left foot. We have been treated with RLP and we try to work with the ferrier to have a suitable shoes. She can be a very good jumping pony although I am not sure she can cope with the work and she is just 5 yo.
Currently she is in light work.
Any advice are much appreciated.
thanks

I think that's very unusual to have sidebone in a five year old pony at all. Then if you add the fact that is only in one foot, that sounds like a previous injury of the other leg causing weighting of that foot, or very poor foot balance for some reason.

It's not a soft tissue injury which will be damaged by work, or a bone that will end her life if it breaks, so if she is sound then in your shoes I would carry on as if you didn't know it was there and see what happens.

How come you found it?
