Side reins for lunging

I have two sets of side reins. One set is complete leather & the other set has elasticated inserts. I'm unsure which would be better to use.

Is it a matter of personal opinion or is one better than the other?

elastic is generally better i think, unless it is a horse that really leans on the hand and has learnt to lean on the elastic too, using the give in it. a horse like that, i would use the solid side reins, personally.

Personally prefer solid ones as elasticated can tech them to lean and i have seen horses bounce on the elastic and use it to not work properly

My instructor has decided that I need to learn to lunge (never done it before) and said I need to get non-elasticated side reins with buckles (easier to set to a given length).

Charlie is a leaner though.
