whats the best way to introduce side reins to a horse with its nose out?..should i use them on a loose hole hacking first and tighten them every week or? x

Erm I wouldn't be riding in side reins anyway

if you have to ask then i dont think you should be riding in them. if you absolutely feel the need to force your horse into a false outline then a bungie is better imo but if you are desperate to use sidereins then do it on the lunge and start with them on a loose setting in walk. Elastic ones are better are they provide a more natural feel on the mouth and allow the horse a more natural movement.

There's been loads of debates on here about riding in them recently. The general consensus has been Don't.

ETA: when i say use them on the lunge, i don't mean with someone on board.

I did consider that since we've had soooo many threads on this lately... But i'm nice so always give the benefit of the doubt.

personal opinion - riding in side reins is vvvv dangerous.
I only ever lunge in them and that is on a loose setting, but not too loose as that is equally dangerous! (cant win!)

if lunging a pessoa or something is better in MHO.... however others may disagree......

Whilst on board though I wouldnt really use anything that forces the heads horse in and down............ cause whats going to happen when the horse decides it doesnt want to do that any more...... and ur sat on top of that decision making process....
