Hi all,

Looking for some reviews on the side release safety stirrups please, specifically the Acavallo Arena Alupro or Tech Venice if anyone can help.

My horse loves a dramatic sideways spook on a hack - so I wondered if anyone has issues with them opening easily? I like the look of the Arena's but don't know if the side opening being at the bottom would open more than the Venice which have it at the top?

It's hard to judge online how much weight you need to pop them open & local tack shop doesn't stock either for me to have a look at so any comments would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

I’ve tried both and they both seem to work fine and don’t open up easily. I trialled the Venice ones as I also preferred the top opening for the same reason but they had an annoying click every stride. I got the avacallo ones and they are going fine. Only had one fall since using them (thankfully!) but I can’t remember how they performed, I was too busy being bucked off a fresh pony (very unlike him) but my feet didn’t get stuck i suppose ?‍♀️

I've got the Arena's and really like them. I've not had any problems with them opening unnecessarily or anything.

I haven't tried a pair of the Venice one's so unfortunately can't give a comparison of the two but would happily recommend the Arena's :)

I’ve used both and prefer the Acavallo.
I’ve also experienced an annoying click with the Venice ones, probably because my foot is sitting against the outside of the stirrup. However never have opened unnecessarily through day to day riding.
