I was going to wait until Monday to post with pictures but I am too excited :D Finally getting my birthday present (birthday is October) after some not so subtle hints to the OH so I am off for my sidesaddle lesson on Monday. Soo is there anything I need to be aware of or hints and tips before I go :p

Right then, Top Tips for your first side saddle lesson:

Wear a close fitting top so your instructor can see what your back and waist are doing. You might need a layer less than usual as its quite physical. Plus long boots with no garter straps or 1/2 chaps (so long as there's nothing scratchy on them that could damage the saddle) and gloves and a hat. You'll also find a long schooling whip handy as it replaces your missing leg.

Make sure that your pants and johds are your comfiest and wear a decent bra as you'll be joggling around a lot and don't book anything too strenuous for a couple of days afterwards!

Most importantly, relax and enjoy it!

I think sidesaddlegirl and I are going to have to set up some kind of riding aside version of the HHO trailer towing clinic for side saddle FAQs :)

I think you should and get TFC to make it a sticky :D

I am taking OH so will have lots of photos I hope atm I have no money to lose but maybe one day

Right off to find my gloves and long whip :)

LOL, yes! We NEED a side saddle clinic ala ROG's towing one :D

I 2nd that motion, wear a GOOD fitting bra. If you an f cup like me, the Level 4 Shock Absorbers are the best. I also recommend full suedey seat breeches or jods. Most side saddles have doeskin seats which are good but you may get one with a plain pigskin seat. Full sticky bum trousers are your friend :)

You can wear your joddy or paddock boots too instead of long boots but make sure you have your chap on your left left only (or right leg if you know that you will be riding in an off-side side saddle).

Thought I should report back :D

Day did not get off to the best start as well ill most of the night :( but woke up to glorious sunshine so I manned up and headed out with OH as tog for the day.

Soo well credit should go to the lovely Mouse who looked after me and fab instructor who explained everything brilliantly and enlisted OH and his ipad to take photos from behind so I could see what it felt like to sit straight.
Totally not what I was expecting found trot a lot easier than canter?:p and now my right knee aches but not as bad as I was expecting :D

please note the very red face and look of extreme concentration

Just need to find someone closer to home now to continue my education ....
