I have never done this before but I have wanted to for a while. I would like to try it myself and then eventually school my pony to take one. Does anyone know of anywhere and anybody who could give me lessons and then help with my pony. TBH any help would be great. BTW it would need to be near by so I could get pony there. I am in Berks.

Most ponios will take a side saddle without any problem. My loan ponio never had a side saddle on her until 2 weeks ago and I've been hacking her out everyday in it since! She was a bit confused at first wondering where my right leg went but they quickly catch on. Sen actually goes better in the side saddle than she does in my astride!

The YO's wife tried to convince me to have a go at the SS Taster Day tomorrow, but I politely declined!
 
I had my first ever side saddle lesson on my mare! She is extremely safe in the school so my side saddle instructor and I hoped for the best. Depends on how safe your pony is though. My mare loves it and goes much better with a side saddle on. At the moment I'm putting my side saddle on another horse, who is 8, a more advanced and wizzy wizzy horse. I'm just walking him round with the saddle on and trotting him in hand with the saddle on and slowly keep doing up the balance and over girth. He doesn't seem bothered at all, might be different when I get on though.

Good luck, side saddle is alot of fun! It does wonders for your sitting trot too!
