In the south....


My friends daughter is 11 next week, (id forgotten!!) and I know she would love to learn to ride side saddle - does anyone know anywhere in the south (by south Im talking Dorset, Hants or Wilts ideally!) I could buy her a lesson for as her present?? Ive looked on the website and the Hampshire rep is not too far from me at all, but on their list of instructors it doesnt say she uses her own horses - theres a lady in Liss, near Liphook, who looks to have a riding school or something similar (says that she has horses she uses as well as teaching anyone) but I cant find a website for her to have a better look?

any help you clever lot can give me would be really useful - thankyou
 
Can't help you I'm affraid but I would most certainly appreciate a side saddle lesson for my bday! :D I have always wanted to learn to ride sideways and then teach the Hocamaffe as he would look simply stunning under side saddle!
 
No idea beyond the website- maybe just phone the people listed and explain? Al is desperate to have a go on her boy too, and mum found a local lady doing essentially that :) Just got to wait for the hoss to be off his holidays and fit again!
 
I second Peta Roberts - she is a great confidence giving instructor either astride or sidesaddle, she is great to help with showing too - if your interested - if you get stuck i will pm you her number :)
 
If you email the secretary of the side saddle association, they can give you contact details for your area's chairman, who can give you information about local instructors. I found them very helpful when I was trying to find somewhere.

Aha !! She is the other one I was talking about with the equestrian centre (as well as the lady in Liss), THANKYOU for the link to the website !! Mind you - I think i remember seeing she doesnt do beginners? will go and have a look anyway - and ring - worst she can do is say no !! :D

The Hampshire "rep" type of woman lives in Bournemouth, so will give her a ring tomorrow and see what she says - also one of the riding schools had a demo evening a few weeks ago, I'll try to ring them and see who ran it as well....
