Does anyone know where/if i can hire a sidesaddle to see if my lad will take it?

Does anyone know who can help me teach him?

Can anyone tell from a pic if he'd take a sidesaddle?

sorry, bit random, but i've always fancied giving it a go, and i've decided that this summer I'll let OH event him, and focus myself on teaching him something new.

Acrecliffe at Otley give side saddle lessons (on your own horse if you prefer) Anne there has a few saddles that may fit.

You can ring the Side Saddle Asscociation and thy will give you a list of instructors in your area.

Most horses will take a side saddle but if your horse is known to rear, then I personally wouldn't try it with them. The two horses i've ridden side saddle (Hattie my present horse and an Arab I used to have on loan), had never had a side saddle on them before and they were fine. A bit confused at first with what happened to my leg though

If your horse has well defined withers and isn't too wide, then you shouldn't have trouble finding a saddle to fit. REALLY wide cobby types and horses with low mutton withers are the hardest to fit without going the custom made route as many of the old saddles were made to fit thoroughbred types. A new customside saddle with set you back £2000+
