Just had our first ones let off very nearby.... I kind of expected Ace the massive greyhound to react as he is nervy anyway, but George terrierist is also hiding 😢😢 Curtains closed and radio up loud, guess I’m not going for a run tonight after all!

We are lucky in that we haven’t heard any at home yet. I am so relieved that we no longer have Aled this year when they do start. Last year was awful for him, really awful. Luna isn’t bothered by them, and I guess we will have to wait and see how Bo copes.

I said goodbye to my old dog last year who hated fireworks so this is the first year I’ve not had to worry about them. Current dog is fine. She belonged to my parents in law as a puppy and although they taught her many bad habits, they did make her good with fireworks. FIL used to take her in the garden as a puppy and sit her on his shoulder to watch them. She still likes that now (although far too big to sit on my shoulder) 💕

We had our first random ones starting a few nights ago. Our pup seems to ignore them until the dog down the road starts barking and she will join in if in garden - have not heard them in the house yet so it’s wait and see for us.

We went out last night. Got in at about 10.20pm. At 10.30pm there was the loudest bang and flash. Looked out the landing window and they were coming from the road behind, about 3 gardens away. They sounded like bombs and continued until 11pm. My dogs were terrified and even my cats, who don’t normally care, were cowering under the bed.
People on the local Facebook group were commenting as they had been set off so late and so loud that kids and babies had been woken up frightened.
So glad we got home before it started.

Apparently it is Diwali which might be why I heard some last night - I must say in fairness the ones around me weren’t late in the evening at all and didn’t last long, I was pretty astonished that anyone was letting them off at all in such foul weather mind you!

Now I’m thinking through my tactics for this coming week of late shifts when I don’t get home until 1am most days... luckily neither Ace nor George reacted very badly, they just clearly weren’t happy. Marty greyhound was asleep on the sofa on his back with his paws in the air, totally oblivious 😂

Tonight was the annual display, which is quite a few streets away, but clearly heard, and we can watch from our garden. Bo was terrified and hid behind the sofa. They only went off for about 15 mins, and he’s come out and is settled again now. We are home all weekend when I guess a lot will be going off, so can keep a close eye on him.

Not had any here yet.
Beagle doesnt care a jot about then, he is used to cannon and musket fire so a few bangs outside dont bother him.
Ive no idea about our border terrier though, only got her in august and she isnt great with thunder so thats not a good omen.
