Just speaking to a lady with a springer spaniel bitch

Dog always off lead because it ‘pulls her too much’

Met someone with an on lead fox terrier. Spaniel (off lead) starts circling terrier. Terrier reacts.

Woman complaining to me that the terrier people wanted the spaniel on the lead whilst they passed and when she happily said ‘oh she’s fine. Just come past’ they swore at her.

Well I would’ve have sworn (I might have!) but for goodness sake!!!!!!

I explained politely that she was in fact in the wrong.

Yeah that would p*ss me off. Mine will happily walk past and ignore other dogs …. but only if the other dog also ignores them/ or is calm. Yet 9/10 dogs we encounter off lead race up to them all excited, getting in their faces and running around in circles which winds my dogs up to react and unfortunately they do play rough and chase. So then those owners say it’s my fault my dogs are chasing their dogs. They don’t seem to realise that my dogs are reacting to their dogs intrusive behaviour. I now always put my dogs back on lead when I see other dogs. It’s not my dogs that can’t be trusted - it’s other people’s !
 
And put your ruddy unpleasant dog on a lead if you know it’ll have a pop off lead! Encountered a black lab last week, I stopped to get mine, owners ignored me then it came over to have a go! I had to haul it off! 🤬 They didn’t even boll0ck it or call it. I was most unhappy. I told them what I thought, clearly not the first time their dog has done this, they were unsurprised by its behaviour. I warned the next owner I saw heading their way, who had his shepherd on lead, as was Goose.

Quite. After my dog had knee surgery I had to walk her on a short lead for short walks for several weeks. I did my best to avoid doggy places but I did meet a couple of people who would not stop their off lead dogs running over to her. They did not seem to appreciate how hard it is to hang on to 40kg of excited dog that is strictly not allowed to jump about - and stopping her hurt me quite a bit as I had an injured knee at the time. I should not have had to explain all that, they could have simply held on to their dogs, as I asked. Them saying “Oh, they will be fine” did not help.
 
My elderly dog was once again knocked over by an out of control dog at the weekend, while the owners of said dog shouted at it “why do you always play so rough?!” My dog had just been walking along minding her own business when this thing bounded over and flattened her.

Other dog owners infuriate me.
 
This clip just came up on my FaceAche news feed (I do follow a few dog trainers, but I don’t follow this one - it just came up as one of those “suggested” posts). This is what I come across on a regular basis, which winds my dogs up !! Really hard to work on your own dogs manners whether on lead or off, when others don’t give a damn.

There was a chap on fb complaining that a lady with 2 terriers ( on leads) had kicked out at his collie that had run over to these dogs to say hello!! He said his dog was friendly and the woman shouldn't have done that. Fortunately he was shot down and told his dog should also have been on a lead if near other dogs. People just don't get it, it's scary.
