You think you're being a lovely caring owner - getting worried about your horse being cold, so staggering round the field in the pitch dark at 11pm with an armful of rugs. Next morning - smug looking horse, wearing a fancy off the shoulder number.

You could be right! Maybe he and the ninja chicken have settled their differences, and he was doing a Chippendales style striptease for her!

No sign of Spottie Dottie...

Alice found her chatting a pheasant up on the M40, so she put Dottie in her handbag and brought her home.

Phew! I thought she might have arrived yesterday when I went to ride, and Alf was having a mad snorty hooley round the field (I had one of those "I am NOT getting on THAT!" moments) - but coudnt see her. Glad she's ok!

Lol i to was wandering round my field in the dark and pouring rain to rug mine last night ;)

Oooo glad Dottie has been found and is home safe, Alf can sleep soundly at night now he knows she isnt on the way to get him ;)

It was a very complex procedure! Alf had two lws on, with the smaller one under the larger. Smaller one actually belongs to Spike, who was naked - but he was chilly, so had to take both rugs off Alf, put the quilt on him, and replace the larger lightweight, then catch Spike (without the other two trying to kill him for being near me) rug him up, then make my peace with Tia (who I had bellowed at and offended deeply) so that I could put her rug on! Took blimmin ages!

lol my experience was a little less complex however very wet ;) My cob was so pleased to see me at an unusual time he practically knelt down to kiss my feet ( he loves people) and happily stood to have his lighweight on, old man (mr grumpy) refused flatly to come out from under the big tree so i had to hike across the field getting buffeted the whole time by the wind with a very happy cob stuck to my ass to put his rug on, meanwhile my partner sat in the car shouting encouraging ( or so he thought!!!) comments form the window!

Oh for the love of horses ;)

Just noticed in your pic you have sunshine! so not fair! we still have gale force winds and torrential rain, its tipping it down, hence i got yet another soaking checking on my soggy boys this morning !

It's how all the cool kids are wearing them this season ;)

I brought F in - not because of the weather, but so I could have a night's peace from dreaming he'd escaped and was running wild across the country :rolleyes3:

It's cold though - if that makes you feel any better?

But as long as it makes his inner self feel like this

, is it not worth it?

Im sure it did he he was doing it, but he probably wasn't feeling so cheerful when he realised his bottom was freezing cold!

Glad its not just me who wakes up thinking about things like that!

One of mine removes his one clothes then removes his friends then jumps up and down on top of them.
I to have wierd horse dreams where I can't find them or have them in a stable where I realise I have forgotten them they go round and round until I wake up.

I rugged my three last night, fresh from work, in my work clothes - shoes and all. They were standing the right side of the field so I wanted to sieze the moment. I lifted the first rug to chuck it on youngster, the wind caught it and it took off like a bat and landed on old boy who nearly died of a heart attack. Youngster was totally unfazed., he was busy trying to make the other two rugs which I had dropped on the floor do the same thing. Eventually managed to get them all on and done up, I was exhausted.

I threw the first bit of hay out to Alice and her 24 year old nanny last night. Closed the yard up and just as I walked across to my car I heard a cough coming from the mares field. Something told me to go and look, thank god I did, the old mare was on her side gasping and choking. I have never seen one go down with choke and I initially thought she was fitting or having a heart attack.

Wonderful vet was just down the road so got to me at warp factor 10 and the mare was tubed successfully. Alice got rather close to having no nanny, the silly old bird must have grabbed at the hay and not bothered to chew it.

Blooming horses, they are all on strict orders to behave themselves now as I start radiation this afternoon and can do without any of them moaning, fighting or trying to die.

Gosh scary, glad she is ok hun. :)

I know a horse that manages to get the rug off without undoing any straps or ripping anything, no matter how tight everything is she just wiggles out and leaves the rug in a heap in the field. Pretty rude if you ask me, if shes clever enough to get it off she could fold it up and hang it over the fence to stop it sitting in the mud!!

Ps: Jealous of your sunshine, its miserable here!!

Our sunshine has now departed-its grey and rainy. I reckon you orrible lot north of Watford have wished it on us.

Alf is having his lighter heavyweight on tonight - its so old that it practically a MW. If he's too hot, he only has himself to blame!

Hehehe hmmmm.. whispers.. we have blue skies and sunshine now ;)

Hmm - its raining quite a lot here now. I took rugs off the two oldies this morning, and Alf is in a lightweight. Suspect I shall be heading out in a sec...

i am feeling guilty for leaving my cobs rug on cos he may be to warm now ahhhhhh!!! (although its still cold here) we poor horse owners can never win..sigh...
