What does your dog react to? I have noticed that if I open a bottle of Coke to have a quick drink my two start jumping up and down thinking I am preparing to take them for a walk

We've just come back from a fabulous walk (although I had forgotten how tiring it is walking through deep snow!) where Flick particularly went absolutely mad racing around the woods

Hopefully they will have tired themselves out a little bit now

I would have taken photos but all you could see was a white blur with a black coat on zipping around amongst the trees in the snow....

NB: no wildlife was harmed in the duration of this walk

When I get my yard coat and boots out of the cupboard my girlie thinks its time for walkies. Fortunately they don't yet understand that word so we can still say it without having to spell it out like we did with my last one

Lol, whenever Florimell sees either of us grabbing her coat (any of her coats) she runs away and hides, it's hilarious, and if you call her she will just roll on her back looking at you with a desperate 'please don't make me go out IT'S COOOOLLLDDDDD!' look on her face..Bless her!

My dog lives outside so when ever the door gets opened he's after something but gets extra excited when we go in the utility door (he cant see inside) but all his leads etc are in there and the coats. Also, is you put a jacket, cardi or coat on or anything on your feet. When I open the car boot to put something in he starts hanging about and wagging his tail, trying to jump in etc.

You'd think he never gets out the fuss he makes

Boss is def psychic, I have no idea what my signal is but he just knows, I walk at different times each day but I only have to come downstairs with the intention of an early morning walk and he gets all excited.... how does he know?!! Other than that, he can hear the rattle of his check chain from the other end of the garden and he knows that red coat and green wellies usually mean a walk.

Henry always comes out with me so as soon as I get dressed he gets excited

He can't yet tell the difference between smart meeting clothes and ordinary work / walk clothes so sometimes he is disappointed

Me going to the shed, where the leads are kept. Used to feed them from there too but the hysteria got so much I fill the bowls and take them into the house so I can just shoot out the front door and feed them ASAP.

Now you see all of your dogs have quite normal signals IMHO - but a Coke bottle opening

any person going to the door (even if it is to then turn to go up the stairs!) the general door area viscinity = BEAU GOES OUT! (cue bouncy mental collie moment followed by depressed sulky dog when he realises all you needed was a wee yourself!

Normally its when I actually lift the leads down, but recently its when I put on the reflective coat I have been wearing for winter walks. They don't need to see it they can hear it rustle. I have started wearing it when I cycle to work at the moment so there have been a few false starts

One of my dogs won't get out of bed until I've put my socks on! As soon as I do he jumps up and runs to the door.

Peawit mostly knows that jodhpurs etc means walks but latley she is a bit confused has i take her to work with me but since we have had the snow she has stayed at home ,so she goes in her crate and waits for my signal.

For walks, it is when I change clothes, from indoor clothes to outdoor clothes, that they get exited.

If we are going out in the garden, it is either when I begin to pick together things to take with me out or when I tell them to come. E.g. they definitely knows the difference between if I'm taking a crossword magazine to go and sit down with it indoors or if I'm taking it with me out in the garden, how they know, I don't know.
I mean, I usually use my secateurs outdoors, so when I pick it up, I can understand that they see it as a sign of us going out but sometimes I only take a paper or similar with me, to let them have some extra outdoor time and still they know the difference and begins to expect to go out.

However if I both change clothes and begins to fiddle with my handbag, they suspect I might plan to leave the house without them and becomes slightly worried.
