Signs of a horse getting cast?

Usually signs include scuffed walls and a scuffs on horses legs.

Does he have bankings? I would just give big bankings rather than anticast strips.

He was probably just having a good roll though by the sounds of it.

They normally will try to knock their banks down to try to kick the walls to get up, beds normally a mess too. Try huge banks and if all else fails try some anti cast strips too.

You can get strips of Plywood in a pack from Focus homestore or wherever for about £7.99 a pack (sorry I don't know the exact size of the wood)- you can fit them at 2 levels around the edges of their box and then put the banks up over them as normal, so they can get some purchase to grip on if they should get stuck- these have certainly worked with one of my horses!

He may have simply had an over-enthusiastic roll. My mare often has poo on her cheeks as she likes to use a pile of it as a nice soft pillow!
