signs she could need her teeth doing?

hi guys :D
just a few things, lately my mare has been very funny about sticking her head in the air when i ask her to stop, locking onto the bit and leaning on it and doesnt want to go'on the bit' or turn/stop when i ask her too.
she has been reluctant to listen to my rein aids in the past, however with plenty of schooling she started to learn to listen and so on. but all of a sudden she has been reluctant to turn/stop/go on the bit, and the second i apply rein pressure, she resists and grabs hold of the bit or sticks her head in the air and locks her jaw and jogs sideways or spins around and bucks, so just generally playing up really.
ive ruled out her back as saddle is newly fitted by master saddler, she has no scrub marks or pressure points and has not changed shape since it was fitted. she has been known to just be a pain in the a*se for the odd couple of days as she is very tempremental but im not sure to think about what is causing it... any thoughts would be greatly appreciated :)
 
If it has been more than six months I would have teeth checked. Also as I recently found out, my dentist has not done a great job, hence needing them done again after three months:( I now actually use my vet who sedated them and did them with power tools and got all the hooks and sharp edges at the back of the mouth that had been left and will now have them done each year along with the jabs and annual MOT by him.

Might also be worth having backed checked, and finally it is that time of year when even the most placid mares can be a little odd - spring!

Even Farra Clydesdale who is the most calm mare, is jogging and for her, being very lively and funny enough, cantering round the school, swing her bum out and generally being a naughty girl. Good gallop down the bridleway sorted her out in 10 minutes - she really enjoyed it and it was just what she needed.

the vets apparantly coming out to see another horse on the yard soon somaybe a good idea to get her done then if he can do it? usually the YO does it as qualified but currently out of action. jabs due soon aswell so fab idea, glad you mentioned it :D
oh god, placid mare i wish! the only time shes ever been placid was fter her first days hunting in 2 years :rolleyes: i suppose spring never helps with that tho... unless i ride all day long at a decent pace, theres no hope of my ned sorting out lol, she just keeps on going! honestly sometimes i do wonder why i chose a tbx and a mare for my first horse:p
 
we're in east devon :) he's been taken ill and havnt seen him/been able to contact him to talk to and will apparantly not be working for a good few months, so would have to get someone else out. can anyone suggest any good dentists in my area? or would the vet be able to do it? we have st davids equine and would hopefully be able to get the whole MOT teeth back and everything else checkup all in one go and traumatise my ned?
 
Peter Nott does East Devon and he is brilliant - very quiet and calm with the horses. He is usually advertised in the Western Morning News in the horse section (I think he is based in Cullompton)
