silicone gel pads for hooves on laminitic horses?

Are these any good? My farrier had trimmed my mares toes right back and put normal shoes on her, this seems to have made her worse, I'm sure she is not laminitic anymore just really sore with her feet after this treatment, he is coming back tonight and said he will put silicone pads on.. I have no idea whether this is a good thing or not, if there was too much trimmed off in the first place will they help? Anyone any experience of this? Thank you..

As far as Im aware gel pads just cushion the sole and protect it if its bruised etc. We had rubber pads put on between the hoof and shoe in the past when horse had cruddy soft soles. But TBH if he's caused the problem by cutting her toes too far back, Im unsure how this would help?!
 
TBH, I would ring the vet and ask for advice, maybe he can suggest a good farrier. Heart bars would be the normal course of action.
If anything, I would be inclined to take the shoes off and double pad with gamgee, raising the heel until she is less sore.
 
My horse is recovering from laminitis and he has pads in both front feet. It is like a putty that completely fills his foot and dries hard with some give to it, this supports his sole and also reduces concussion to his feet.

It seems to work very well and he is alot more comfortable.

Other than that he has normal shoes on with a rolled toe.
