I've been looking at upcoming shows on the website and on one of the venues I'm planning on going to it says something like -
Class 2 British Novice,
Class 4 Discovery,
Class 5 1.05 Open
Class 6 1.10 Open.
So where/what is class 1 and 3?
Also one of the other shows I was looking at is something like
1. BN,
2. Disc,
3. 1.05,
4. New,
5. Fox,
5a. 1.20
6. open.
So why 5a and not class 6?
Sorry for totally useless post but just wondered what (if anything) it meant.

Not sure what you mean by "where is class 1 and 3"? It'll obviously be at the venue...?

I don't know what the class 1 and 3 are.... you sometimes have a clear round type 80cm class before the British Novice. But nothing goes between the BN and the Disc. You'd need to ask them.

The Foxhunter is often run together with a 1.20 Open. If its to be split then they always say a and b. Its the same with the Newcomers - that usually is also a 1.10 Open (you just say what you are on entering) but they'll sometimes split that into a and b as well.

Have a look in your rulebook and it should explain in there. It is a bit confusing to start with but go along and you'll see how it works.

Would imagine the missing class one is an unaffiliated or clear round and class 3 could be a 1m Open, but normally they would put the open in. Like the others say, the 120cm as 5a is run with the Foxhunter and if over a certain number of entries the class will be split.

I think class 1 must be a clear round then because they definitely held one when I went to watch last time. I might give them a ring about the mysterious class 3 as I would probably give a 90cm open a go as well as the BN.
Thanks for the info - I did think that might be the case with the 5a/b thing.
