This is a daft question and normally I wouldnt ask anything daft but I am slightly worried about my old man. Basically he had been moulting profusly the last 2-3weeks Basically i know horses moult the summer coat out too but it seems very early and none of the others on yard are moulting yet. Do you think he maybe cold and thats why he is moulting?
He lives in at night so its only the day really I think he could be cold. he hasnt had a rug on as weather has been so changeable and when he did have it on he sweated up! Do you think he needs a rug on as he is preparing for winter too early?

quite a few peeps here have said their horses are moulting, and my boy has shed buckets full over the last few weeks. Don't think it's anything to worry about ! I would just leave him be, he'll soon grow his winter jim jams. :D

Harry is moulting all over the place, tempature has definitely dropped here so things are kicking in a bit early, but all the way nature intended lol

My section a (who's a big wuss considering she was born on the mountains!) started shedding a week or so ago, then stopped and has started again- she's only 7yo. I can feel it's colder and the nights are really closing in now :( summer ends so quickly.

Yep - Merlin started to moult in the third week of July and when I came back from a week's hols on Monday, I found a grey fuzz-ball in place of my sleek horse...

*reminds self to get clipper blades sharpened, or else get a jumbo pack of Bic razors* :D

I agree with the fuzz ball bit..he looks so unkept and when i brush him I also become a white ghost!! Thanks guys I can stop worrying now but may aswell start getting winter warmers on top of rug box!!
