Silly pointless question. Buying my boy a new halter. He is chestnut with a big white blaze. I was thinking of a black halter with a dark ish royal blue overlay. Would that completely clash? Anyone done black and blue on their pumpkin colored horses? Love to see photos if you have them! Thanks!

(As I said, silly, petty post :-) )

Mine used to wear dark green which looked nice. I've now been bitten by the matchy matchy bug and she wears most colours including pink :D

A horsewear head collar with the gold red and black would look nice :)

Green was my old go to for the redheads Ive had.

Being from a police family....I'm on a "thin blue line" kick, hence the black with the blue stripe overlay.

If I chicken out of it I will probably just go with a brown leather lookalike (what I'm ordering is beta biothane)

Colour choices were very limited back in the day when I had my little chestnut mare but she did look fab in green or navy.

Nowadays there are so many more choices. What sort of chestnut is your horse OP because the shade can have an impact on what colours look best.

Very dark livers can look great in red whereas a lighter chestnut wouldn't. Paler chestnut can carry brighter shades whereas the richer redder chestnuts suit more subtle colours.

That's just IMHO at any rete. We need pics :) :)

My boy is very orange, and he suits dark blues, blacks and greens. I think black with blue would look great.

(edited to add: he's in my pic <----- over there, in his blue headcollar)

I have 3 chestnuts and of course, they all need a different colour!

The smallest pony has purple (mostly because she is my youngest daughters pony!). Middle sized pony's colour is green in various shades, and my lovely girl wears either a lovely shade of burgandy which really suits her or (if we are feeling boring!) black. :)

My liver chestnut looks fab in red. My proper ginger girl looks gorgeous in navy or bright blue. They both look amazing in Le mieux teal and peacock. I'd say go for the original choice of bridle!

It sounds really boring but my chestnut looks great in brown/beige/cream colours, you can get some really good "un-boring" horsey bits with these colours in! Blue always looks good on my ginger boy too.

My chestnut is currently sporting a black head collar with a black and bright pink leadrope. Sounds like it would clash but it doesn't. I like greens but not seen a green I like in the head collar style I like (buckle on the top of the nose please! I don't understand these clip and buckle under the nose ones). When I bought her she came in blue, that looked good too.

My liver chestnut look great in dark racing green, burgundy, and navy or black numnahs/rugs. Atm because he's gone so so dark has a bright red head collar.

I have greens, taupes and browns on my bright-marmalade-with-some-chrome pony. He looks lovely in the Horseware witney cooler and exercise sheet in the cream/bwrown shades.

I really like brown tack on a chestnut too.

My chestnut mare has a burgundy headcollar/leadrope which suits her really well, and also a black leather headcollar with a purple leadrope, because all of her equipment is purple. She only has the burgundy one because it was my old pony's.
