Silly question

I'm sure this sounds very silly but I was thinking about plaiting my horse's mane. The wind tangles are driving me mad and the mud gets stuck in them and its horrible! If I plaited it (not show style rolled up, just hanging normally) would he miss it in the bad weather? I believe it helps deflect flies in summer but not sure about winter. He goes out for about 8 hours a day and is unrugged with full winter coat. Thanks!

If you leave plaits in they are likely (VERY likely) to pull out the hair at the roots and you'll end up with bald spots or no mane at all. If you do decide to plait, then brush out the mane and re-plait at least once a week.

Did that with Baileys when I was trying to get him mane to sit the correct side- the best of it is we don't even show.. *rolls eyes*
But I did them loosley but enough to hold them just so it wasn't pulling at him.
