Ok, so we don't have much grass at the moment and my mare could do with a bit more weight on before the winter. I needed some haylage ASAP but local suppliers seem to be very short! So i've bought a bag of Silvermoor Haylage, just wondering if anyone feeds this? Or if anyone knows how to feed it! I bought it expecting it to be exactly what it sounds like, haylage! But opened the bag to find that it looks more like a bag of chaff.. At a bit of a loss of what to do with it, quite obviously it doesn't go in a net and i'm unsure of whether i fill a bucket and leave it in the stable for her to eat it as and when - any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated!

hi i feed Silvermoor all the time, i find it to be the best haylage around sp you have made a brilliant choice, it is part chopped but still definatly haylage! just put it in a haylage net as you would anything else, also if you open the bag alon the long side not the top you will find it much easier to get the haylage out.:) Silvermoor have no problem with their haylage supply ( i emailed them the other day) so keep getting it into your local merchants so you don't run out!

Thanks for your reply! I found today when i opened the bag fully that it is actually haylage, and not what i thought was some form of chaff!
It seems very nice, with absolutely no dust - i think you're right, i have made a very good choice!
