Hi, I have been using Silvermoor Veteran Haylage successfully with my 32 yr old boy. However in a recent delivery from my supplier, I opened a bag which had what I thought was an air bubble at the top, until I stuck the scissors in to open the bag and it exploded open with a putrid cheesy foosty smell, dark brown and wet. Just absolutely disgusting. I put it to one side as no way was I feeding it to my boy. Pulled another bag over, same putrid smell and dark brown. Checked the batch numbers of all 4 bags I had delivered and the other 2 bags were a different batch( same batch as I had been using for the last 2 weeks) I reported to Silvermoor but the don't seem too concerned. Had it just been one random bag fair enough, but 2 one after the other from the same batch Expiry date either 10/5 or 10/6/24 Batch either U1 or V1( quite difficult to read) I don't consider normal. So just wanting to ask has anyone else had this problem with Silvermoor Veteran Haylage? Possibly the same batch? I am writing this on 16/1/24.
When a feed is marketed towards Senior Horses and is a premium price I really don't expect this or to be left short of haylage as a result. Silvermoor have asked my supplier to replace it but he has none until next week. Had I not had 2 bad bags I would have had enough to last 2 weeks. Just all round very poor Customer care from Silvermoor imo. You'd think they'd be sending me some more not down to the supplier who has run out.

Anyways, thanks for reading. Am really upset as I make sure my boy gets everything he needs and the best of everything.

I have since spoken to Silvermoor and sorted this out satisfactorily. I have to add that their Veteran Haylage has been excellent! And I would recommend it to people.
