Hi everyone, anyone heard of this feed system or tried it?
Thanks
Thanks
Use this for my mare.
Its brilliant.
Dont quite know why Milliondollar had to soak and weigh it all out, as I certainly dont do that.
I have a distrubution depot near me so I pick up my order from there and get an extra 5% off total price.
Its not as expensive as some branded feed.
Its totally unmollased and can be fed to laminitics.
Girls on the help line are really really helpful.
Out of interest DirtyMare, which of the simple systems feeds do you use as most of the Simple System feeds require soaking as they expand and they actually recommend that you soak all their cubes. They do offer some feeds that can, at your own choice, be fed unsoaked but as one of their main marketing angles is that a horses diet is 70% water most of their feeds require you to add water before feeding.
I personally do not like the product, to me it is just a wide variation on the same product at a high price. Yes in the wild and naturally a horses diet is predominantly fibre based but we ask our horses to work and so they require higher levels of energy, vitamins, and minerals, fats and starch to work in the way we ant them. You can still feed naturally without only feeding alfalfa. I am intrigued at what holds the cubes together if it is not molasses as oil does not stick a cube together and heat alone will not do this either.
I use Lucie nuts and Lucie stalks with Total Eclipse. Yes, you can either soak the nuts or not. I actually soak them. Having said that there are lots of feeds out there that also require soaking.
I dont know how they stick the cube together, but can only say the feed doesnt contain mollases.
As for the work that is asked of the horse - yes agree they need feed that will give them extra energy, which the Lucie nuts are supposed to. Simple Systems contain no wheat or peas etc, which is not what a horse would eat in the wild. My mare is a good doer, and certainly does well on this feed.
Please forgive me, I'm not a food expert, I was only asked my oppinion.
Sorry Dirtymare, didnt check how my message read, not meaning to get at you about your opinion. That's the problem with trying to write my replies and not sound dismissive.
