Since having horses do you keep up with your beauty regime?

Aarh dear, just wiping the tears of hysteria away from my eyes. I always liken myself to that fab Thelwell piccie of the smart rider, scruffy horse then after grooming and beautifying ned ,smart horse, scruffy rider.
I was asked last week by a cosmetics salesman what cream I used on my hands, I replied I don't need cream I have horse manure, he looked slightly green!
But I do however insist on regular baths, once yearly whether I need it or not!

Only just seen this thread and laughing...

Unless I'm working (when it's full make-up, heels and business clothes, all achieved in under 20 mins) my morning routine is this:

feed cats at 6:30, crawl back to bed for 45 mins...

7:15 crawl out of bed again, quick splash in the bathroom without looking in mirror, jeans and fleece on, bowl of cereal down gullet, grab mobile and out of door into car by 7.30 to yard...

Er...that's it, really. I'll go to the gym later and have a shower, if that's what you mean by beauty regime?

A beauty regime....i almost forgot what one was!

My nails never ever get done, just the mud scrapped from underneath them.
My hair gets cut every now and again.
I just whack on a bit of powder in the morning but thats pretty much it unless its a night out or day out. ( i do shower and clean...when i can be bothered.....IM JOKING!)
A lie in for me is 7.30

The pony is cleaner and more presentable than me!

Never been a beauty so never had a regime as such. Last had my hair cut about 3 years before I got the horse, haven't worn make up since about 1989! I manage to shower every day, when I get back from the yard (usually about 7am) and get into a suit and clear off to work. Today some joker invited me to a meeting at 8am, I told them I was quite happy to attend as long as they didn't mind me turning up in jeans smelling of horse ****. Seems I'm excused that one...

A beauty regime

What's that then?

:D

this :D

once in a blue moon, if i ever go out anywhere, then it's extra hard skin scrubbing, moisturising, hair doing, putting on makeup etc etc

i do however await the day they make a perfume stronger than horse pee ;)

I find no point to beauty regimes as i'm not pretty in the first place!! :D

My first response to the title was 'EH?!' horses and beauty regime dont really go together!

For wrinkles stop putting chemical creams that are tested on animals on your face and have a look at Eva Fraser's book - if you exercise your body muscles to look 'toned' ie build up the muscle under the skin to stop it sagging, it makes sense you need to do the same for your face!

Kimberly Sayer creams are amazing, all organic and not tested on animals! Same goes for Ella Pure

Getting up at the crack of dawn to do the horse then going to work all day and coming home to cook dinner ect doesn't leave much time for looking glamorous, but my boyfriend then started referring to me as the eco warrior so I realized I needed to do something.
So every two weeks I now have a shellac manicure (this doesn't chip ect even while doing all the yard jobs) get my eyebrows done and have a spray tan (not an orange one). I do have to make myself as I can't be bothered but when all done I do feel better and a couple of hours every two weeks is fairly low maintenance.
Ooh I am also going to look into getting a brazilian blow dry, that lasts for a couple of months and means you can just wash your hair and leave it and it will turn out like you have spent ages blowdrying/ straightening ect.
So if anyone knows of any time saving beauty treatments do let me know. :)

I work part-time at a yard aswell has having 3 of my own to look after, so i always stink of horses, always pulling hay out of my hair and genrally go round in old clothes :o the OH is not horsey and does complain!
I went to visit my parents a few weeks back and had to *de-horse* myself, i thought i did i pretty good job until i sat on the train and pulled a bit of hay out of my pocket!! (i do have a smart coat (well non horsey) that i tend to wear whilst doing normal or should i say ab-normal things :p so how the hay got in my smart coat i'll never know!! :o
Having said that i do keep up with things such as plucking my eye-brows, shaving my legs, my hair and when i go out, fake tan too! i tend to scrub up well!

Never had a beauty regime and always notoriously outgrow my hair cuts ... But last week somebody guessed me 10 years younger than I am, and she was a beauty professional who was doing my first ever manicure and pedicure! Horses must have a juvenateing effect :-)

I get up at 7am go straight to horses, poo pick muck out etc. Get to work a bit early and shower there, put my hair up and get changed into my scrubs. So I turn up at work usually covered in mud and smelling of horse wee! Nice! I do pluck my eyebrows and remember to shave my legs occasionally, only wear make-up when going out which is about twice a year. I get my hair done every three months and every time I try and straighten it it rains so have resorted to shoving it in a pony tail :)

Most of the time I never bother with make up for either yard or work (I work in theatres so apart from the doctors no one sees it!) but that said when its the occasional night out or whatever I do go all out on hair and make up - I turned up at a work xmas party last year and at first they didnt know who I was -must say a lot for what I normally look like haha!
