So I'm looking at the possibility of buying a single trailer ( we only have one 11.2hh pony, )

am looking for transport to our local show ( 10 miles away) 6 times a yr and then odd lessons at a hired school.

I'm just figuring all the maths...

Can anyone give me an idea of weight of unladen single trailer??

And any advice regards single trailers??

Thanks :)

I used to have a sinclair single, it weighed 690kg. I took it to a local firm that have a weighbridge to have it weighed. I phoned and asked first, also took my horse to be weighed.

If it has a plate the unladen weight should be on that, as well as the mam.
I got mine weighed because it didn't have a plate. Also had to work out the mam using tyre loading weight.

Was easy to tow and manage on my own, I towed it with my car. I really liked it.

I you have a B license you need to check the weights. Even though mine was lightweight it was not suitable for B licence towing because the mam was too high (although you can sometimes have them downplated)

This is a good idea. Also go online & look at different manufacturers specs for their trailers, see what suits you best. These days I have a single Ifor Williams which is roomy & very stable. I would recommend them but have a good look around at what is on the market.

The more modern ones are really mare and foal trailers, they are only about 12 inches narrower than a standard 2 horse trailer.

Mine is a bockmann and unladen it's 750 kg I think with a 850kg payload
