Has anyone had any problems with inflamed sinuses this year? I think that's what these are. Can anyone shed any light on them? They are rock hard abs aren't painful to touch. He has no nasal discharge or weeping eyes. He is eating fine no head shaking, breathing seems fine, rides just as normal. I don't think it's an infection. I'm concerned maybe cysts however I have read that even then there is some nasal discharge and exercise intolerance and breathing problems. They have been there for about 2 weeks now. I have mentioned them to the vet who didn't seem too concerned. He's turned out 24/7 and in a field that did have long grass but it has not been grazed down so just wondering if it is an allergic reaction or hay fever? Just wondered if anyone has experienced anything like this before I panic and call the vet out as I feel the only way even they would know if to x-Ray/ scope?? Thanks

I don't think it will be his sinuses that you can see more likely the salivary glands, known as grass glands or idiopathic parotitis , they will do no more than look unsightly and may restrict the horse from working at it's best but are harmless, it is a shame your vet didn't take a moment to explain.
If you google there is loads of info so you can check for yourself.

The bumps are where his sinuses are located and he has had Grass glands before which are located just behind his jaw, it isn't the time of year for grass glands as the grass has already sprung. These are on his forehead about 2 cm from the corner of his eye, so basically he looks like a evolving unicorn! they are rock hard not painful or hot, (one side is bigger than the other) he is eating like normal, no nasal discharge and isn't head shaking, coughing, breathing heavily or reluctant to work. I'm thinking he's maybe bumped his head now. My vet wasn't concerned due t no sign of infection or discomfort and I'm advised to just keep an eye on them. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced something similar and could relate it to something else maybe
