My poor little guy has an infection in his hock
It was really swollen so called the vet out, who took some joint fluid and bloods.
Have to say he was very brave with the sedative. Cant say the same about Amber who would have double barelled me had the vet not pulled me out the way. We then decided to take Sirrius out and leave mum in the stable for him to be sedated and examined.
At one point I was holding the little guy up as he was so sleepy, bless him. He then fell asleep standing up, snoring away with his tounge poking out!
Anyway the fluid came back showing an infection and the vet gave me several options, from doing nothing to PTS to the full works of flushing out the joint and using a camera to have a look. i was going to just have the wound flushed but the vets said they would do the whole lot for as cheep as possible.
Will still cost a lot as he's not insured because he is too young, but I want him better. As YO said "money can be found but foals cant be replaced". Vets scared me as they dont sound very positive
The vets are going to call me tomorrow afternoon with the results as he is going in at 11am. I'm not going to be sleeping much tonight.
Does anyone have any advice or experience of this?
