My sister broke her ankle 18 months ago, and had to have it operated on.She had just started riding again and unfortunately had to have her beautiful ClydexShire mare put down at Easter this year. She then bought a grey 16:3 Irish Draft mare, who has learnt to stand at the very tall mounting block in the yard for my sister to get on and off. While we were out this evening a track we go on was COVERED in rubble and we did not want to ride the horses up it as it was such a bad surface. We both got off and led the horses up the dreadful surface. Sisters mare then stood like a rock while my sister climbed up on to a wall and scrambled up onto her from there. This is not a major achievement for many, but this is the first time that my sister has tried to get on anywhere but the yard and the mare was a total star. Just wanted to share a good story.

Onwards and upwards. My sister has had her confidence knocked a bit by the events of the last couple of years and this was just the boost she needed. She now knows that she can go on our RC's longer rides, and get on and off again with no trouble
